Five Orediggers Selected To NFF Hampshire Honor Society

- Five members of the Colorado School of Mines football program have earned membership in the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society for their athletic and academic achievement. 

Mines' honorees for 2022 are receivers Mason Karp, Tristan Smith, and Roberto Valenzuela; defensive lineman Robert Miller; and running back Michael Zeman. All five of the Orediggers' honorees key contributors in helping Mines to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II national championship game, going 13-3 in 2022 with a fourth consecutive RMAC championship.

Honorees have been starters or significant contributors for their teams and have completed their eligibility while achieving a 3.2 or greater GPA and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree completion. All five men have earned Mines degrees: Karp and Miller in mechanical engineering, Smith in petroleum engineering, Valenzuela in biochemistry, and Zeman in petroleum engineering (B.S.) and engineering & technology mangement (M.S.). This year, the NFF honored 1,734 players from every division of college football.
