Rookies Lead Mines Through RMAC First Round

- Lukas Taggart is eighth and Max Lange 12th to lead Colorado School of Mines after the first round of the RMAC Men's Golf Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada.

The Orediggers are +4 in sixth place after a team 292, buoyed by the play of rookies Lukas Taggart and Max Lange who are in the top 12. 

Taggart was even through 13 holes before sinking birdies on 14 and 18 to get to -2 (70), jumping into the top ten in a tie for eighth three shots off the lead pace. Meanwhile Lange had a hot start with three birdies in his first four holes to end up one-under at 71 in a tie for 12th.

Fellow freshman Carter Lolli is T28 after a +2 74, and Jake Welch was Mines' fourth scorer with a five-over 77, sitting in a tie for 37th. Ethan Adam was Sunday's non-counter with a +7 79 to be tied for 42nd.

UCCS has a seven-shot team lead over CSU Pueblo at -13. Colorado Mesa's Pablo Diaz del Castillo and CSU Pueblo's Jeff Nelson co-hold the individual lead at -5.

The Orediggers will tee off Monday's second round starting at about 10:15 a.m. PT paired with Westminster and Colorado Mesa.
