United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll for women's soccer was announced Tuesday and after finishing last season as the fourth-ranked team in the country, the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team will open the 2023 campaign in that same spot in the national rankings.
The Orediggers (18-2-3, 10-0-2 RMAC) are coming off a 2022 season that saw them post a perfect 12-0-0 mark at Stermole Soccer Stadium, sweep the RMAC regular season and tournament titles and knock of the number one team in the country and the top seed in last year's NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Dallas Baptist to secure the South Central Regional title and advance to the national quarterfinals before falling to eventual national champion Western Washington. The final ranking of fourth at the end of the season was the highest final ranking achieved by Mines program history.
The rest of the top five sees the aforementioned Vikings as the preseason number one team in Division II, followed by West Chester, Columbus State, Mines and West Florida. Ferris State, DBU, Grand Valley State, Bemidji State and Embry-Riddle (FL) round out the top 10.
Mines opens the season on September 1 at 7 p.m. at Stermole Soccer Stadium against San Francisco State before taking on Chico State September 3 at 12 p.m. to conclude the first weekend of play.
