GOLDEN, Colo. - The biggest party in the City of Golden's history will take place this weekend, and fans coming to town are advised of road closures and traffic changes with both Coors Brewing's 150th anniversary celebration and Colorado School of Mines Homecoming taking place at the same time.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, downtown Golden will shut down for
Coors' street festival with Washington Ave. closed beginning at 8 a.m. and not re-opening until Sunday morning. Although 11th Street will remain open, there will be heavy traffic and pedestrian activity downtown and in Parfet Park. Fans coming to the Mines football game vs. Chadron State (noon, Saturday) are strongly advised to enter campus from the south side by utilizing the 19th Street exit off Route 6.Â
Fans who park in city-owned lots and garages for game day are also advised to find alternate on-campus parking. All Mines lots are available for free to fans on Saturday, and the Ore Cart shuttle will be running to take fans to the front entrance of Marv Kay Stadium.
Visit the Mines Game Day Parking page for more information on parking options and the shuttle.Â
