GUNNISON, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines had to work from behind and wasn't able to catch up to Western Colorado as they fell 29-15 on the road Saturday night.

The two teams each entered the dual at 2-0 in the RMAC and receiving votes in the latest NWCA poll. Mines suffered its first loss of the season to be 4-1. 

#8 Grayston DiBlasi, #12 Cody Thompson, and Ryan Cody each dominated their bouts for technical fall victories, but the Mountaineers captured the other seven weight classes for the win.

WCU got out to a quick 10-0 lead as Roberto Estrada worked a 15-6 major decision over Christian Lopez at 125, and Patrick Allis pinned Trebor Moreno at 133. Mines brought it back to zero, however, thanks to DiBlasi's 16-1 win over Noah Kasprowicz and Thompson's 17-1 tech fall over Dean Noble, making it 10-10.

The Mountaineers reeled off four straight wins after that, however, starting with decisions at 157 and 165 before #4 Cole Hernandez beat #11 Wyatt Reisz 9-1 at 174 in a battle of ranked foes. That left Mines needing three wins, but Cole Gray sealed the dual win with a pin of Mason Diel at 184 to take an insurmountable 26-10 lead. Ryan Cody rolled 17-2 over Sage Harrison at 197 to get Mines to 15 points, but Zach Schraeder ended with a win in the first overtime tiebreak against Cade Whish, 3-2. 

Mines is back in action next Friday at Chadron State.
