COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its academic honors for women's soccer Monday morning and for the second time in as many years, Colorado School of Mines'
Reese McDermott was named Academic Player of the Year to headline three First Team All-Academic selections along with
Allie Lundgren and
Kaitlyn Manalili.
McDermott, now a three-time First Team All-Academic selection, becomes the first repeat Academic Player of the Year in Mines history as she brings home the program's fourth all-time honor. She turned in another eye-popping season in 2024, further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest players in program history. The Houston native scored a career-high 16 times while adding a further five assists for 37 points. Appearing in all 18 matches with 17 starts, she netted six game-winners and went 1-2 on penalties in 1,054 minutes. She posted two scoring streaks during the season of at least four matches with her longest streak of six straight running from October 6-25. Four times this season McDermott scored multiple goals, including a seven-point performance with a hat trick and an assist against West Texas A&M on September 15. She ended the regular season as the RMAC leader in goals, points, shots, game-winning goals and was tied for the top spot in shots on goal while being just one of two double-digit scorers in the league this fall. She carries a 3.948 GPA in Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering.
Lundgren, a previous RMAC Academic Honor Roll recipient who spent her first two seasons at Mines in a reserve role, emerged as the starting netminder this season and did not disappoint. Appearing in 16 matches with 15 starts, she went 15-0-1 in goal with 38 saves against five goals allowed in 1,370 minutes while facing just 99 shots. She posted a 0.33 goals against average and a 0.844 save percentage with eight solo shutouts while combining for a further three. She was also named RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week three times in 2024 and with nine career shutouts, now finds herself seventh all-time at Mines. She sports a 3.922 GPA in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.
Manalili, another former RMAC Academic Honor Roll recipient, posted a breakout season in which she led Mines with six assists while scoring the first three goals of her career for 12 points. She started seven times in 18 matched for 771 minutes and had a six-match stretch from October 11-20 in which she recorded nine points, scoring three times with three assists and never went more than three matches this season without registering a point. She ended the regular season as the RMAC leader in assists. She totes a 3.997 GPA in Geophysical Engineering.

Mines (17-0-1, 11-0-1) begins postseason play Thursday in the semifinals of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship against UCCS.
