LOOKING BACK
Mines is fresh off a trip to Montana where it competed in the Yellowjacket Classic hosted by MSU Billings. The Orediggers started the roadie with an 84-75 loss to Simon Fraser. Audrey Beaty Scored 17 points and Jenna Siebert had 12 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, two blocks, and one steal. A 24-15 turnover margin doomed any chances of a Mines comeback. Saturday brought a matchup with the hosts and #6-ranked Yellowjackets of MSU Billings. The results was an 85-54 defeat for the Orediggers. Emma Sixta led the visitors in scoring with 16. Jade Leon pulled down 11 rebounds.

TEXAS HOMECOMING
Two Orediggers on the women's basketball squad claim Texas as their home state. They are Audrey Beaty and Peyton Freiermuth. On opening weekend, Freiermuth got her own homecoming in her native city of Austin. It also happened to mark her collegiate debut. This weekend, Beaty will get her homecoming as she plays just 17 miles from her hometown of Aubrey, Texas.

SISTER-SISTER
The Orediggers' 2024-25 roster features sisters Michaela and Olivia Lee. Michaela is entering her second season at Mines. As a true freshman, she came off the bench and scored six points, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked four shots, and grabbed two steals in just 28 total minutes of action. Olivia is in her first, and only, season as an Oredigger. She started her collegiate career at Western New Mexico before transferring to Cal State San Bernardino after two seasons. The elder Lee completed her bachelor's degree at CSUSB and came to Mines to pursue a master's degree and play her final season of collegiate volleyball. Over the last four years, Olivia accumulated 462 points, 391 rebounds, 61 blocks, 35 assists, and 21 steals across 81 games.

MEET TAYLOR HARRIS
The Mines coaching staff added a fresh face last spring with Taylor Harris taking over as assistant coach for the Orediggers. Harris, a 14-year veteran coach, came to the Orediggers after leading Fort Lewis' women's squad for three seasons. Other stops for the Colorado native include Miles Community College (Mont.), and 10 years of service at fellow RMAC programs in Regis and MSU Denver. Fans can check out Harris' full biography HERE.

BOSS LADY
Head Coach Brittany Simpson enters her 13th season leading the Mines women's basketball program. During her decade-plus tenure, she has become the winningest coach in program history both in terms of total wins and win percentage at 220-126 (63.5). Simpson is responsible for all three of the program's RMAC titles including regular-season championships in 2015-16, 2020-21, and 2021-22. She has also led the Orediggers in five of their six trips to the NCAA tournament. Simpson is a three-time RMAC Coach of the Year who has guided 36 All-RMAC selections including 15 first-teamers, 11 second-teamers, one third-team selection and nine honorable mention performers. She has also coached one RMAC Player of the Year, two RMAC Defensive Players of the Year, and two RMAC Freshman of the Year award winners. Eight of Mines' 13 1,000-point scorers have surpassed the milestone under Simpson's watch.

SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's played its way to last year's national title game where the Pioneers eventually fell to Minnesota State. Now, undefeated at 5-0, TWU is ranked #1 in the nation in both major polls and running hot. The Pioneers knocked off Missouri Southern State and Northwest Missouri State at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in St. Joseph, Mo. They also downed Western Colorado and MSU Denver in Denver as part of the regional crossover weekend. Last Friday, Texas Woman's handled #22 Southern Nazarene by a score of 55-44. As a team, TWU is top-25 in the nation in scoring defense. Individually, defending LSC Player of the Year Ashley Ingram has picked up where she left off. A pair of double-doubles through five games rank ninth in the nation. Overall, she's averaging 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Leila Patel and Averee Kleinhans are both scoring in double figures as well. Ingram's 2.4 assists per game also lead the team. Texas Woman's game against Mines on Wednesday will be TWU's first home contest of the season.

OREDIGGERS AGAINST THE PIONEERS
Wednesday marks the fourth meeting between Colorado School of Mines and Texas Woman's in basketball. The Orediggers trail the all-time series 0-3 after a pair of tight, hard-fought losses last season. Mines and TWU played in both the 2023-24 regular season and postseason – both in Denton, Texas. The first contest was a 72-66 margin in favor of the home team. Josephine Howery put up 10 points, six assists, and two steals. The second result came in the first round of the NCAA tournament and Mines fell, 81-72. That game featured 23 points off the hand of Jenna Siebert.
