GOLDEN, Colo. – Four members of the of the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer program were honored Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their academic achievement as
Ava Harman,
Kaitlyn Manalili,
Allie Lundgren and
Reese McDermott were named to the association's Academic All-District squad.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes who meet both athletic and academic standards laid out by the CSC Academic All-America Core Committee will be selected to advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
Harman, now a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection, graduated in May with a 3.714 GPA in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and started work on a Master's degree in Data Science this fall. The 2024 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, Harman was one of three players to start all 20 matches this season for a career-high 1,631 minutes and scored a career-high four times with two assists for 10 points. Three of her goals were game winners against Chico State, Lubbock Christian and Western Washington as she has been part of one of the best defenses in the country this season in terms of shots and goals allowed per match.
Lundgren was named First Team Academic All-RMAC for the first time this fall as she carries a 3.922 GPA in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. Emerging as the starting goalkeeper this season, she was recently named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team and was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the league three times. Ahead of the upcoming NCAA Tournament, she has made 17 starts in 18 games for 1,550 minutes and posted a GAA of 0.35 and an .880 save rate with nine shutouts, allowing just six goals all season and making 44 saves while directing a defense that is among the nation's best in terms of goals allowed and shots allowed per match.
Manalili, a First Team Academic All-RMAC honoree with a 3.997 GPA in Geophysical Engineering, posted a breakout season in 2024. She scored the first three goals of her career this fall and led the team in the regular season with six assists on her way to Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors. The junior from Shoreline, Washington logged 867 minutes this season, starting eight times in 20 matches and put 10 of her 15 shots on goal.
McDermott repeated in 2024 as RMAC Academic Player of the Year and carries a 3.948 GPA in Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering. Ahead of this weekend's NCAA tournament, the senior from Houston leads Mines and the RMAC in scoring with 18 goals and six assists for 42 points and across 20 games made 19 starts and logged 1,196 minutes. She scored in both matches of the RMAC Tournament to earn MVP honors and also recorded scoring streaks of four and six matches while recording an eight-match point streak along the way as well.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10.
