COLORADO SPRINGS
–The Colorado School of Mines Men's Swimming team raced past Colorado College on Saturday afternoon, claiming a 146-77 dual victory in the Tigers' home pool.

The Oredigger men claimed gold in all but two swimming events. Colorado College won both diving events. Mines does not have a diving team. Strong performances by veteran Orediggers and highlights from underclassmen underscored the dual victory.

Racing started with a first-place finish for Mines in the 200-medley relay thanks to Jakson Winn, Gavin Gilmore, Luca Burns, and true freshman Sawyer Jones. Sophomore Joseph Lev-Tov followed that by winning the 1000-free. Fellow sophomore Lucas Hoke claimed gold in the 200-free and Jones did the same in the 50-free for four straight first-place finishes by the Orediggers. Senior swimmer and all-American Ronan Lauinger gave Mines five straight gold medals with a first-place finish in the 200-IM. The Tigers broke the Oredigger streak at the first break with a record-setting dive by CC's Wyatt Welllehan. Again, Mines does not have any divers.

Oredigger success continued on the stroke of graduate student Jaron O'Grady who won the 100-fly. Colorado College broke back in with a win in the 100-free, but junior Luca Burns out-touched Winn in the 100-back to put Mines back on top. True freshman Vladislav Kazakin cruised to nearly a three-second win the 500-free. Another diving break and the 100-breast gave the Tigers two more wins. However, Mines closed strong in its final race as Jones, Michael Kietzman, Luca Burns, and Winn teamed up to touch first in the 400-freestyle relay.

Mines' men and the Oredigger women return to action on Nov. 20 when they open the TYR/CMU Invitational hosted by Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo. The event runs through Saturday, Nov. 23. A full preview and live coverage information will be available at www.minesathletics.com the week of the races.
