GOLDEN, Colo.
- Colorado School of Mines used its final opportunity before the postseason to fine tune things as they wrapped up the two-day Mines Pre-Conference at Steinhauer Fieldhouse.

Aryelle Wright improved her national standing and likely locked in her return to the NCAA Championships with a 2:12.65 800m run, which converts to the NCAA D-II #7 performance at 2:09.55. Avary Catchings ran 2:17.70 in the same heat. In the men's 800m, Tim Thompson also improved his NCAA provisional standing with a 1:54.65 time, which converts to a season-best 1:51.34; he stands 26th nationally.

Mines had a trio of sprint wins starting in the 60m hurdles, where Coulton Chan won the men's race in a time of 8.30 seconds, with Rhett Cullers third at 8.48. Garrett Halbrooks later won the men's 60m dash with a 6.97 clocking. Randi Higashi and Grace Galvin came to the line first and second in the 400m dash with Higashi edging out her teammate in a time of 58.91 to Galvin's 59.33. A very close women's 60m hurdles race had the three Oredigger entrants separated by just two-hundreths of a second, with Avery Wright second in 9.15, Aani Hardesty third at 9.16, and Andrea Walser fourth at 9.17, the latter two being personal bests.

A quartet of Orediggers ran the 5,000m led by winner Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge in 18:07.87, with Ashleigh Loe running an at-altitude career best 18:18.25 for third, and Callen Nash and Josie Mejia making their Mines 5K debuts in sixth and seventh as Nash ran 18:26.85 and Mejia 18:28.27. Ella Kenly's final-lap kick handed her the win in the 3,000m run in a time of 11:08.53 as she made her debut at that distance, and Matt Mettler recorded a PR of 8:32.02 for second in the men's 3K, an NCAA provisional time ranking 25th nationally.

There was only one field event on the docket for Mines on Saturday as Grant Redmond won the men's high jump with a top bar of 2.07m. Avery Wright was third in the women's competition with a 1.52m clearance.

The Orediggers will begin the 2024 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Black Hills State on Friday.
