Day 1 Recap
BOULDER, Colo. - Everett Delate and
Aryelle Wright each broke program records to lead a contingent of Orediggers on the second day of the Colorado Invitational in Boulder.Â
Personal bests were the order of the day as Delate reset his program 60m hurdles mark, while Wright added the Mines 400m record to her existing 800m standard as the Orediggers had a selection of top runners at the meet.
Wright ran an NCAA-provisional 56.10 400m time, her personal best by nearly two seconds, to edge Elizabeth Gabel's 2015 program record of 56.11. Finishing fourth overall, she was only one of five strong performances in the race as
Aani Hardesty improved her PR to finish ninth in 57.69 (making her the new #6 all-time performer at Mines),
Grace Galvin was a spot behind at 58.15,
Allison Comer ran her personal best 58.16 for 11th (making her the #10 Mines performer), and
Randi Higashi was 12th at 58.34. Higashi also ran 26.54 to end 12th in the 200m dash.
Avary Catchings stamped another PR and NCAA provisional time with her 2:14.85 run in the 800m, finishing fifth overall. That slashed more than three seconds off her previous best set last week at Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
Three Orediggers hit NCAA provisional times in the 3,000m, with
Zoe Baker improving her national standing at 9:47.55, currently the D-II #10 performance, and
Holly Moser doing the same at 9:51.88, the #13 time.
Molly Maksin ran 10:06.62, and
Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge came in at 10:21.96.
A few weeks after running their fastest at-elevation 4x400 in program history, the women's 4x400 did it again to win the event in 3:51.95, the second-fastest performance overall in program history. Hardesty, Galvin, Comer, and Wright were on the baton.Â
Only two Oredigger men were in action and both had big results. Delate twice ran 7.89 seconds, finishing second in the 60m hurdles and besting his time of 7.92 set at the same meet last year. Meanwhile,
Tim Thompson ran a season-best 1:52.45, an NCAA provisional mark currently 16th in D-II, to place sixth in the 800m.Â
