Mines vs. CSU Pueblo - Thursday - 6 p.m. [RMAC Network] [Live Results]

OREDIGGERS HOST CSU PUEBLO IN PENULTIMATE DUAL
Coming off Saturday's emphatic home win over Adams State, Colorado School of Mines (6-2, 4-2 RMAC) remains at home to take on CSU Pueblo (5-6, 1-2 RMAC) on Thursday night. The 6 p.m. dual will stream live on the RMAC Network, with live results available on Trackwrestling.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Four bonus-point wins helped Mines run away to defeat Adams State, 29-10, at Volk Gym on Saturday. The Orediggers were led by Trebor Moreno's pin and tech falls from Cody Thompson and Ryan Cody as they dispatched the Grizzlies with seven bout wins overall; Wyatt Reisz added a major decision and Jakob Smith, Mason Diel, and Laith Ibrahim won by decision.

CODY WINS RMAC WEEKLY HONOR
On Tuesday, Ryan Cody was selected as the RMAC Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career after a dominating upset of a ranked opponent against Adams State. Cody beat #12 Ben Tonnessen in a 27-12 technical fall at 197 pound, throwing threw Tonnessen to his back multiple times in the bout and earning two takedowns into nearfall-fours. The high-scoring match ended at 5:39 on Cody's fifth takedown of the afternoon.

THE SERIES
Mines and CSU Pueblo are meeting for 35th time since 1983, with the Thunderwolves holding a 22-12 all-time lead but Mines having won three in a row and four of the last five. Last year in Pueblo, the Orediggers won 17-15 as back-to-back wins by Ryan Cody and Anderson Salisbury at 184 and 197 provided the cushion Mines needed after they trailed 12-11 with three bouts to go.

IN THE POLLS
Mines appeared in fifth place in the RMAC preseason coaches' poll, with favorite Adams State topping the list ahead of Colorado Mesa, Western Colorado, and Chadron State. In the most recent NWCA rankings, Mines is receiving votes in the team tournament top-25 with Grayston DiBlasi ranked #8 at 141 pounds. Last week's OpenMat rankings have DiBlasi #13 and Wyatt Reisz #14 at 174; CSUP 197-pounder Ben Gould is #11 in the OpenMat rankings.

LEADING THE WAY
With the season entering its home stretch, 149-pounder Cody Thompson has emerged as the team's wins leader with an outstanding 16-2 record, and is Mines' only unbeaten dual wrestler at 8-0. Wyatt Reisz and Grayston DiBlasi are each sitting on 15 overall wins. Thompson has a team-best 39 dual points followed by DiBlasi at 28; Cade Whish leads the team in falls with seven, Wyatt Reisz in tech falls at five, and Jaron Mahler in major decisions with five.

AT THE HELM
Head Coach Austin DeVoe is in his 11th season in charge of the Mines Wrestling program, having rebuilt the Orediggers into a national contender with a pair of RMAC titles, seven all-Americans, and seven Academic All-Americans in his tenure. With 74 dual wins under his belt, Mines has had six consecutive winning dual seasons including the only three double-digit win seasons in program history, and Mines tied the program record for wins last year at 11-2. On the national stage, Mines has had team success as well including an 11th-place finish in 2022 which was the program's best finish since the 1990s.

GET THAT SILVER
Mines Wrestling can count one more alumnus among its ranks, even though he's still on the team. Levi Farris earned his silver diploma with a B.S. in engineering physics during Mines' winter commencement on Dec. 15; the fifth-year senior from Palmer, Alaska is continuing his studies in his final year of eligibility with a master's in materials science.
