GENEVA, Ohio– The Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams both raced for the first time at the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday and Ronan Lauinger led the way.

Lauinger shattered the program record in the 1000-free after stopping the clock at 9:15.69. That performance was good enough for 17th in the nation and was four seconds faster than Brennan Mays' previous record of 9:19.75 posted at the 2015 conference championships. It marked the first time Lauinger had ever raced the 1000-free on the national stage despite qualifying for the event last season. His 17th-place finish is the best, known national finish in the 1000-free in program history. Additionally, Joseph Lev-Tov joined Lauinger in the distance event and finished 24th in the nation with a time of 9:22.19. It was the NCAA Division II Championships debut for the true freshman who is also entered in the 500-free and 1650-free.

Annie Osmun started the day and the Orediggers' entire meet by racing in the 200-IM prelims. She touched the wall at 2:03.68 and took 20th in all of NCAA Division II. It marked her best-ever 200-IM time at the national meet and second-fastest 200-IM time in her career. Osmun also raced in the 50-free prelims and finished 43rd in the nation thanks to a 23.99, going sub-24 for sixth time in her career. Charles Burroughs competed in the 200-IM prelims on the men's side. Like Osmun, he walked away with his best 200-IM on the big stage. His 1:50.98 proved good enough for 43rd in all of NCAA Division II.

Mines continues its appearance at the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday morning with prelims starting at 10 a.m. (ET). The Orediggers' schedule for the second day includes the 100-fly, 400-IM, and 400-medley relay in the evening. Live results and video will be linked at www.minesathletics.com and on social media.
