Allison Comer reset her 400m hurdles program record as Mines won four events at the Maverick Invite & Multi at Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
Oredigger hurdlers had another strong day as Comer and
Aani Hardesty ran the #1 and #2 400m hurdle performances in Mines history going 1-2 in the race. Comer broke the program record for the second time this season, lowering her previous best of 1:01.94 with a 1:01.75 time, while Hardesty crossed in a PR of 1:02.43. Hardesty also ran 15.30 for third in the 100m hurdles.
Everett Delate cruised to a win in the men's 110m hurdles with a 14.08 clocking, with
Rhett Cullers third in a personal-best 15.15.
Mines got another event win in the 800m as
Avary Catchings won the women's race with a nearly two-second collegiate best of 2:14.81.
Grace Galvin (57.93) and
Randi Higashi (58.92) finished second and fifth, respectively, in the women's 400m, while
Tim Thompson was fifth in the men's race at 50.31. Galvin later ran 25.95 for 10th in the 200m with Higashi 14th at 26.47.
Garrett Halbrooks ran a wind-aided 11.16 for 12th in the 100m.
In the high jump,
Grant Redmond cleared 1.98m for second in the men's event while
Lexye Wood tied for fourth in the women's competition at 1.60m with
Claire Kintzley eighth at 1.55m. Wood later jumped 5.70m for third in the long jump as Kintzley marked 5.26m for 10th. Kintzley finished her third event of the day, the triple jump, in fourth place with an 11.36m leap, while
Nicholas Nijkamp also placed fourth in the men's triple jump with a 13.57m best mark.
It was a busy Sunday for Mines' men's throwers, as
Brody Welch won the shot put with a 14.87m toss with
Hayden Swim third at 14.41m and
Cade Whish 10th at 12.34m.
Davin Kiesby was fourth (51.30m), Welch fifth (49.68m), Swim ninth (41.97m),
Franklin Rambo 11th (36.76m), and Whish 12th (35.92m) in the men's hammer throw, and the discus was again full of Orediggers as Rambo threw 41.75m for third, Whish 40.18m for fifth, Swim 37.97m for seventh, and Kiesby 36.70m for eighth.
For the second time in three days,
Kitt Rupar threw her outdoor PR - 13.89 - in the shot put, matching the mark she put down at the Colorado Invitational on Friday to finish second in the event. Rupar would also be second in the discus in 44.63m.
In the heptathlon,
Avery Wright has 2,170 points for second and Lisa Sutherman 2,018 points for fourth through the first day of competition. In the 100m hurdles, Wright ran 14.91 and Sutherland 15.17 into a headwind, and both cleared 1.55m in the high jump. Wright had a strong 11.65m shot put (the #10 outdoor performance all-time at Mines) with Sutherland marking 9.87m. Both will finish up the multi on Monday.
