INDIANAPOLIS - The qualifiers have been announced for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and Colorado School of Mines will send 23 student-athletes to the national meet.
The Orediggers own 30 total entries for the meet, which will take place May 23-25 at Emporia State University in Kansas.
Mines' strong distance crew qualified 12 competitors, including 5K/10K doublers
Logan Bocovich,
Duncan Fuehne,
Zoe Baker, and
Molly Maksin;
Riley McGrath doubling in the 1,500m and 5,000m;
Alberto Campa and
Brock Drengenberg making the 1,500m field;
Margaux Basart going in the steeplechase; and
Dawson Gunn,
Paul Knight,
JP Rutledge,
Holly Moser, and
Grace Strongman rounding out a very strong 10,000m field for the Orediggers. Elsewhere on the track, a pair of all-Americans veterans return to nationals as
Everett Delate makes the 110m hurdles field and
Aryelle Wright goes in the 800m.
The field entries are highlighted by Mines' largest pole vault contingent ever, led by veteran multi-time qualifiers
Hannah Miller,
Hunter Potrykus, and
Avery Herbold, and adding first-time trips for
Noah Kelly,
Ava Kowalski, and
Dale Thompson.
Kitt Rupar is the only Oredigger to triple qualify as she made it in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus throw, and
Lexye Wood makes her third consecutive outdoors appearance with a long jump entry.
A year ago in Pueblo, the Mines women tied for 11th and the men were 12th in the final team standings. The 2024 NCAA Indoor meet saw the women finish 10th and the men 11th.
