2024 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners' Association All-America Baseball Teams
MARSHALL, Minn. –
Luke Folsom made history for the Colorado School of Mines Baseball team on Thursday after being named Second-Team All-America as a utility pitcher by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).
Â
It marks the fourth all-America award of Folsom's career which ties him with Trevor Kehe (2017-19) for the most all-America nods in program history. The accolade adds to a season resume that includes two First-Team All-RMAC awards, four all-region recognitions and third-team all-America distinction from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA). Overall, the latest all-American teams included 48 student-athletes across the first, second, and third teams along with 16 honorable mentions. Skylar Gonzalez from the University of Tampa was voted Ron Lenz Pitcher of the Year while Augustana's Jack Hines earned Ron Lenz Player of the Year. The teams were selected by College Sports Communicators from schools player Division II baseball. Folsom was one of 12 representatives from the South Central Region which included five selections from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Â
As stated above, Folsom touts two all-America selections and four all-region awards in 2024 alone. He was also voted First-Team All-RMAC as a starting pitcher and infielder while earning RMAC All-Tournament status at the end of the season. The Littleton, Colo., native became the first Oredigger since Nate Ollinger to earn multiple First-Team All-RMAC awards in the same season. For his career, Folsom is a seven-time all-region player and four-time all-American. In his final season, the Columbine High School graduate started on the mound, at first base, and at designated hitter. As a starting pitcher, Folsom went 6-1 with a .487 ERA in 11 starts. He tossed two complete games including a nine-inning win in the RMAC tournament. Along the way, Folsom totaled 58 strikeouts compared to 16 walks. He anchored a staff that led the entire RMAC with an ERA of 6.52. He ranked #1 among qualifying pitchers in the conference in ERA and opposing batting average. He was also top-10 in the conference in 11 other pitching categories. At the plate in 2024, Folsom batted .365 with 46 runs on 62 hits including 17 doubles and 11 home runs with 52 RBI. He also drew 24 walks and was hit 20 times for an on-base percentage of .486. After four years with the Orediggers, Folsom appears more than 20 times in the program record book. Those listings include, but are not limited to, #1 in single-season doubles, #2 in all-time doubles, and #5 in career home runs.
Â
As a team, Mines closed its season earlier this month at the 2024 RMAC Baseball Tournament, eventually falling to Regis – one game shy of Championship Saturday. Remaining postseason awards include CSC Academic All-District and CSC Academic All-America. All postseason awards for the Orediggers will be announced on social media and at
www.minesathletics.com. Mines' signing class for the 2024-25 school year will be announced in the coming months as well.
