GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming Head Coach Claire McDaniel has hired Noah Hensley as her fulltime assistant coach heading into the 2024-25 season.

Hensley comes to Mines with nearly a decade of experience as a student-athlete and coach at the collegiate level. He most recently served as the associate head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams at NCAA Division I Miami University of Ohio where he helped the RedHawks win multiple titles in the Mid-American Conference while coaching international Olympians as well.

"First of all, I want to thank Coach McDaniel for this amazing opportunity at Colorado School of Mines," Hensley said. "I would also like to thank to entire athletic department for making me feel welcomed and a part of the Mines community from the start. I'm very excited to join this rising program and am ready to get rolling on the upcoming season. Go Orediggers!"

Prior to his promotion to associate head coach at Miami for the 2023-24 season, Hensley was the assistant coach for the RedHawks during the 2022-23 season. He was also on staff at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) from 2021-22, and volunteered for the swimming and diving team at his alma mater, North Carolina State, from 2020-21. As a student-athlete, Hensley started his career at Florida State before transferring and completing his career at North Carolina State where he was a four-time NCAA All-American and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion.

"I am thrilled to bring Noah into our program. I've been impressed with him from our first phone call," McDaniel said. "Noah understands what it takes to compete at the highest level – in swimming and in the academic arena. He is very passionate about coaching and the sport. I look forward to working alongside Noah to take Mines swimming to next level in and out of the pool."

Overall, Hensley's tenure at Miami lasted from 2022-224. During that time, he helped his student-athletes break 18 program records and six conference records, win 15 individual conference titles, and two team titles on the men's side which extended their streak to four. On the national stage, Hensley helped the RedHawk women finished 33rd in the nation in 2023 and 32nd in 2024 which are the fourth and third-highest finishes in program history. The Miami women also finished runner-up at the 2024 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships – their highest finish since 2014. His time in Oxford, Ohio, was also highlighted by placing Nicole Maier on the German Olympic Team as part of the 800-freestyle relay in addition to a trip to the South Africa Olympic Trials with Olympic hopeful and biomedical engineering student Henju Duvenhage.

From August of 2021 until August of 2022, Hensley was the assistant coach for men's and women's swimming and diving at IUPUI. In his lone season with the Jaguars, the men and women combined to produce 11 school records, win six gold medals, and appear on 22 podiums. Hensley's accomplishments in Indianapolis also included the 2022 Horizon League Women's Freshman of the Year and a pair of third-place finishes in the team standings. That experience followed the 2020-21 season where he was a volunteer at North Carolina State, helping develop five NCAA champions, 13 all-American, and one NCAA/US Open record-setting relay.

Hensley earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from North Carolina State in May of 2020. His graduation capped a collegiate career spanning two ACC programs from 2015-20. It all started at Florida State in 2015-16 where he scored points in all three individual races at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships with a top finish of sixth in the 100-back. Hensley arrived at North Carolina State in January of 2017 and sat out for a season before qualifying for the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships in the 100-back in the spring of 2018. That year he finished 25th in the nation in the 100-back thanks to a time of 46.28. In 2018-19, the Florida native was an all-American in the 100-fly and was named to the Academic All-ACC Team. Hensley's final collegiate season, 2019-20, saw the team captain win the ACC title as part of the 400-freestyle relay while earning all-American honors in the 100-back, as part of the 400-freestyle relay, and as part of the 800-freestyle relay during the 2020 national meet which was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to his individual accomplishments at NC State, Hensley was also an integral part of Wolfpack teams that finished as high as fourth in the nation and won four ACC team titles.

Additional highlights from Hensley's resume include time as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative, attendance at the 2020 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, and multiple club coaching roles in the state of North Carolina. He becomes the second fulltime assistant coach in the history of Mines swimming after entering his role late last month.
