GOLDEN, Colo. – Vladislav Kazakin broke the Mines Natatorium 500-free record Saturday as the Colorado School of Mines men's and women's swimming teams won each leg of its tri meet against Adams State's men and women and CSU Pueblo's women.

The men's margin against Adams State was 116.5-59.5 in favor of the Orediggers. On the women's side, Mines beat Adams State, 117-46, while downing CSU Pueblo, 116-72. The ThunderWolves were triumphant against the Grizzlies by a score of 131-50. Kazakin's pool record came in the 18th event of the day – the aforementioned 500-free. He stopped the clock at 4:40.63, nearly two seconds faster than Wyoming's Jack Herron who posted a 4:42.52 at Mines during the 2017-18 season. It was the fifth-oldest pool record prior to Kazakin's swim.

Top point scorers for the home team, not including exhibitions, were
Jack Fulham and
Lucas Hoke for the men.
Jennifer Pierson and
Anna Bream were tops for the women. Fulham collected a pair of first-place finishes and one silver medal. He was part of the winning 400-medley relay and touched first in the 50-free. His day ended with silver in the 100-free. Hoke recorded one first-place finish and one second-place finish. He tied for silver in the 200-free and won the 200-fly before an exhibition in the 200-breast. Pierson's day included gold in the 50-free and 100-free with a leg on the 200-freestyle relay as well. Bream came up big with a 200-IM win and 200-fly victory. She was also fastest in the 200-breast but did not collect the first-place points.

Plenty of other Orediggers were the fastest in their events.

Kaya Flaherty won the women's 400-medley relay.
Reid Wilkerson,
Fausto Angelone Lopez, and
Dan Berke joined Fulham on the men's gold-medal relay.
Julie Gill cruised to first place in the 1000-free by nearly 30 seconds and Kazakin won the men's distance race. Flaherty proved fastest in the women's 200-free with
Charlie Krone topping the men's side. Angelone Lopez struck 200-IM gold for the Oredigger men as well. The men's 100-free went to
Brenden Cook while
Mary Flikkema and Wilkerson swept the 200-back. Rounding out the speedy performances was
Mikaela Khan in the 500-free and Angelone Lopez in the men's 200-breast. Pierson, Flaherty,
Abby Swanson, and VanderMeer were the quickest quartet in the women's 200-freestyle relay. Cook,
Nathan Moss,
Jackson Steider, and
Jakson Winn had the fastest men's relay to close the day.
