WEEK SEVEN RECAP
Mines played their first full weekend at home of the season and defended their home pitch well, knocking off #10 UCCS in a thriller 2-1 Friday night before posting a 4-0 win over Western Colorado Sunday on Senior Day.

Friday against the Mountain Lions, an early PK conversion by Callie Fuhr saw Mines strike first before UCCS level the match eight minutes later. It wasn't until around the 61st minute that the score changed again as Mines retook the lead on a header by Natalie Rouse off an Afton Rasco corner kick. In the closing minutes, UCCS looked to have tied the match on a rebound off the near post, but the goal was waved off by the officials after it was deemed the ball went out of bounds on the initial shot. Video footage revealed that the initial shot went off one of the transport wheels on the goal and caromed back into play instead of hitting off the post as the Orediggers held on to win.

Sunday, it was all Mines from start to finish against the Mountaineers. Bella Campos bookended the scoring the 17th and 50th minutes, just missing out on a hat trick while Rasco and Annelise Rojo scored. Rasco added an assist as well along with Lindsay Jeans and Kaitlyn Manalili while in goal, the duo of Allie Lundgren and Emma Thomas combined for four saves in the shutout.

AT THE HELM
2025 marks the 16th season leading Mines for boss Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 253-44-41 (.809), he ranks sixth in all of the NCAA and third in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 39 All-America selections, 19 Academic All-America selections, 87 all-conference honorees and 32 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

THE CAPTAINS
After having the same trio of captains for each of the last two seasons, a new group will be wearing the "C" for the Orediggers in 2025 as Callie Fuhr, Natalie Rouse and Bella Campos will lead the way this fall.

Fuhr, a fixture on the Orediggers' back line since 2022, has started 53 consecutive matches going back to October of her debut season and enters this fall with seven career points thanks to a goal and five assists. Across 67 matches in her career, she's clocked more than 5,250 minutes and in 2024 led the team with 2,064 minutes of action.

Rouse, the 2023 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in her debut season in Golden, returns to action in 2025 after missing the final 21 matches of 2024 due to injury and will lineup alongside Fuhr to anchor the Mines defense at center back. The former All-America selection has started all of the 24 career matches in her career as an Oredigger and owns seven goals and an assist for 15 points in more than 2,100 minutes of action.

Campos, the latest prolific striker to come through Mines, already sports her name in the program record books in numerous places. The 2023 RMAC Freshman of the Year and 2024 RMAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-American, Campos looks to step into a larger role in 2025 as an everyday starter. Despite just making 16 starts in her first 45 career matches, Campos has been a prolific producer on offense regardless of her role with 30 goals and 11 assists for 71 points in just over 2,100 minutes played.

A veteran and experienced group that has plenty of RMAC and NCAA Tournament experience, this trio will look to make an impact as leaders of the program heading into this fall.

IN THE POLLS
In the RMAC preseason coaches poll released in early August, the Orediggers were picked to repeat as league champions behind nine first place ballots of the 13 head coaches in the league. UCCS earned three first place ballots and was picked second with Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis rounding out the top five.

There was movement aplenty in the top five this week behind #1 Dallas Baptist. Minnesota State moved up a spot to second while Cal Poly Pomona rebounded this week moving up two spots to #3. Catawba leaped four spots to fourth this week while Grand Valley State backslid three places to fifth.

Around the RMAC, UCCS dropped four spots to #14 while Colorado Mesa remained at #20.

CHECKING THE STANDINGS
A point of clarification before we reset the standings. Due to a no contest between Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa back on October 3 due to weather, postseason qualification and seeding will be determined by points per match in accordance with RMAC bylaws.

With that in mind, we look at the standings and see Colorado Mesa and Mines first and second at 6-0-0 with 3.00 PPM and 6-1-0 with 2.57 PPM respectively. UCCS is third at 6-1-1 and 2.38 PPM before things delineate a little more from fourth on back. Regis follows at 4-1-3 and 1.88 PPM with Fort Lewis right behind at 3-2-1 and 1.67 PPM. Westminster is sixth at 2-1-4 and 1.43 with CSU Pueblo seventh at 2-2-3 and 1.29 PPM. The final team with a PPM of 1.00 or better is Adams State in eighth with a mark of 2-4-1.

Western Colorado is ninth at 1-3-3 and 0.86 PPM followed by MSU Denver at 1-4-3 and 0.75. Colorado Christian and Black Hills State remain tied at 0.62 PPM in 11th with marks of 0-3-5 and 1-5-2 while New Mexico Highlands rounds out the standings at 0-7-0.

NOW INTRODUCING
Seven newcomers have joined the Orediggers for the 2025 campaign, as six freshmen and a Division I transfer round out the 29-player roster. Kate Hendrickson, Taylor Johnson-Balding, Avery Kelley, Lauren Koehler, Natalie Mezarina and Demi Woods make up the group of first-year players, while Baylor transfer Caelan DeBolt joined the team in January. The newcomers will all look to make their mark on the program this fall as they compete for playing time. Learn more about each of the newcomers here.

PRESEASON HONORS
Bella Campos earned Preseason All-RMAC honors heading into 2025. The junior standout heads into her third year in Golden coming off a 2024 season that saw her named RMAC Co-Player of the Year to follow up a debut season in which she took home Freshman of the Year laurels. Alread a two-time All-American in her career, Campos enters this fall fifth all-time in program history in scoring with 30 goals and is the fifth player all-time to reach that mark. She also ranks fifth all-time with 71 points while her eight game-winning goals are seventh in the record books. Through two seasons she has been a part of 41 goals, more than one-third of the goals scored by the Orediggers since she joined the program in 2023 and looks to take on a larger role in 2025 as she will likely transition into an everyday starter.

WEEKLY AWARD WINNER
For the first time in her career, Afton Rasco has been named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week following her efforts against UCCS and Colorado Mesa last weekend. Read more about her award-winning performance here.

LEAGUE LEADERS
To the surprise of few, Bella Campos remains one of the top goal scorers in the RMAC this fall and after last weekend, now sits back atop the league rankings with 10 goals scored. Her 23 points also lead the league by five back to Kylie Wells of Colorado Mesa.

Along with Campos, Natalie Rouse and Lindsay Jeans are all tied for seventh in the RMAC with two game-winning goals. Afton Rasco and her six assists are tied for the league lead while Kaitlyn Manalili is fifth with four.

In goal, Allie Lundgren is fifth in GAA at 0.90 and tied for seventh with 40 saves.

ON THE SPOT
Penalty kicks aren't necessarily a regular occurrence over the course of a season, but they also aren't necessarily a rarity either. This fall, Mines has made a living on earning PKs and converting them, going 5-5 from the spot this season. That's tied for the most PKs made in a season all-time (2008) and tied for third on the amount of PKs awarded in a season (2005, 2007). The only seasons in which Mines has been awarded more were in 2008 (6) and 2024 (7). To top it off, the Orediggers also lead Division II in penalties this fall and rank tied for third across all levels of the NCAA.

MILESTONE WIN
Back on October 17, Mines' win over Colorado Christian was another milestone mark in the legendary career of Orediggers head coach Kevin Fickes. Nearly four years to the day of his 200th career win, the Mines skipper banked #250 at the same venue against the same opponent thanks to a 1-0 win over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood. Over his first 15 seasons, the Orediggers have averaged better than 16 wins per season under Fickes' direction and have won at least 11 matches in 15 of those seasons (Mines went 7-0-3 in the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season). On pace to put up similar numbers this season, Fickes and the Orediggers will look to continue handling their business as they now set their sights on the second half of the 2025 regular season and the postseason.

MAKING THEIR MARK
Several active Orediggers are making their mark on the program's record books this season as they continue their careers. Most recently, Allie Lundgren became just the seventh goalkeeper in program history to record 100 career saves, doing so at MSU Denver on October 12. Entering this weekend, she stands at 105 in her career to take over fifth place all-time from Marissa Burson (2005-06) and is 21 back of Sierra Roth (2018-21) for fourth.

Lundgren is also now sixth in career shutouts with 14, passing two weekends ago and is three back of Zumbro for a top five spot in that category as well. Meanwhile, her 0.67 goals against average also ranks sixth.

Sadie Wolf's mark of 0.58 GAA puts her ahead of Lundgren in fifth while her 87 saves rank eighth all-time and 18 shutouts are good for fourth.

Bella Campos meanwhile continues to pile up the goals and the points with 40 and 94 respectively through the first 57 matches of her career. She's now in sole possession of fourth all-time in goals scored, passing Megan Woodworth (2009-12) and is now six points away from becoming the fifth Oredigger with 100 points in a career. Campos also has nine game-winners, tying her with Nicole LaTourette (2016-19) for sixth all-time. She's also chasing a spot in the top five in assists as she stands at 14 entering the weekend. In addition, Campos currently ranks fifth among active players in Division II with 40 career goals.

KEEPING IT KOEHLER
Katie Koehler's five-year career with the Orediggers came to an end last season and while she may longer be donning the #2 kit in 2025, it will remain in the family. Younger sister Lauren Koehler was a part of this year's incoming signing class and will inherit her older sister's uniform. Academically, there's a striking similarity between the sisters as well as Lauren will follow in Katie's footsteps and pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. And while she may not see time this season as she recovers from an injury suffered in her senior season of high school, when Lauren debuts in a Mines uniform, it'll be in a similar place as well, helping anchor the Orediggers' back line.

CHECKING THE STATS
For the third straight season, Bella Campos has scored 10 or more goals following a two-goal outing Sunday against Western Colorado to reclaim the top spot in the conference. Along with three assists, she leads the way with 23 points. Behind her, eight other Orediggers have scored this fall with Natalie Rouse second on the team with three goals followed by the quartet of Afton Rasco, Lindsay Jeans, Annelise Rojo and Callie Fuhr with two each. Natalie Mezarina, Caelan DeBolt and Gaby Guerrero round out the scoring with one goal each.

Looking at assists, Rasco has registered one in three straight matches and four of the last five as she now has six on the season. Kaitlyn Manalili is second with four ahead of Campos while Anna Gessner has two. Jeans, Mezarina and Jordan Bowermaster each have one.

In goal, Allie Lundgren has started all 12 matches this fall for 1,006:17 between the pipes. Against 145 shots, she's made 40 saves and allowed 10 goals for a 0.89 GAA and an .800 save percentage while going 9-2-1 with four solo shutouts. Emma Thomas has backed her up in two appearances for 73:53 and made four saves without ceding a goal against 12 shots. The duo have combined for an additional two clean sheets.

For the season, the Orediggers are +14 in scoring margin at 24-10 and average 2.00 goals on 12.5 shots per match. Opponents meanwhile average 0.83 goals on 13.0 shots. SCOUTING COLORADO MESA
Currently leading the RMAC standings, Colorado Mesa has looked like a juggernaut this fall as they enter this weekend on a seven-match winning streak while also not having allowed a goal in more than a month of action. Last weekend they posted 2-0 and 1-0 wins on the road at New Mexico Highlands and Adams State.

10 different players have scored for the Mavericks this fall lead by Kylie Wells with eight goals. Olivia Bariao-Arce, Ellie Duncan and Parker Mairs all have three goals while Olivia Barrett, Sarah Dunn and Brooklyn Baird have two apiece. A further three players have each scored once.

When it comes to assists, Wells is joined atop the team leaderboard at two by Barrett and Dunn. Nine additional players for CMU have a single assist in 2025.

In goal, Kiely Wieczorek continues to be the mainstay, starting all 12 matches and playing all 1,080 minutes this fall. Against 87 shots, she has made 39 saves and allowed just four goals for a 0.33 GAA and a .907 save rate while posting nine clean sheets.

As a team, Colorado Mesa is +22 in scoring margin at 26-4 and averages 2.17 goals on 16.2 shots per match while limiting teams to just 0.33 goals and 7.3 shots per match. They have 15 assists on their 26 goals and have combined for 42 defensive saves. They are 1-1 from the spot and have taken 67 corner kicks. CMU has been whistled for 104 fouls and assessed seven yellow cards.

SCOUTING WESTMINSTER
The Griffins picked up their first two RMAC wins of the season last weekend with 2-0 and 3-0 wins over Adams State and New Mexico Highlands and also snapped a five-match winless streak in the process. They'll head to CSU Pueblo Friday to open the weekend before heading up to Golden Sunday afternoon.

A total of eight players have scored this season for Westminster lead by Addie McCallister with two goals while seven other players have one goal each.

Six total players have a single assist as McCallister, Kim Hendricksonm Kristen Kirkham and Amber McIntosh have each scored and assisted this fall.

Brighton Jakeman has played the remaining 38:40 in her lone appearance and allowed a goal and made save against three shots.

On the season, WU is +7 in scoring margin at 10-3 with half of their goals this season coming in their last two matches. They average just 0.91 goals per match on 14.5 shots while opponents average 0.27 goals on 8.1 shots. Westminster has six assists on their 10 goals and have combined for 39 saves. They have yet to attempt a PK this fall and have taken 39 corner kicks. The Griffins have been whistled for 76 fouls and issued three cautions.
