United Soccer Coaches Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The eighth in-season Top 25 release by the United Soccer Coaches Tuesday saw the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team continue to climb this week, rising to #7 in this week's rendition of the rankings.

The Orediggers remained unbeaten at home over the weekend against #20 Colorado Mesa and Westminster, posting a scoreless draw against the Mavericks before coming from behind for a 2-1 win over the Griffins. Friday night, Allie Lundgren and the defense headlined the action with CMU, facing 27 shots and working a shutout which saw Lundgren post a career-high nine saves. Sunday against WU, Mines fell behind early but rallied thanks to a pair of goals from Bella Campos. Campos first tied the match with help from Gaby Guerrero and Afton Rasco before converting a penalty kick for the go-ahead score late in the first half. Lundgren and the defense again stepped up in the second half, working a clean final 45 minutes despite a patchwork alignment featuring a different rotation of players.

Similar to the men's poll this week, the top five on the women's side comprised of the same five times, with some variation to the order. Dallas Baptist and Minnesota State remained 1-2 followed by Catawba and Cal Poly Pomona in third and fourth after the two traded places this week. Grand Valley State rounded out the top five, remaining fifth.

Around the RMAC, UCCS and Colorado Mesa maintained their standing at #14 and #20 respectively.

The Orediggers (10-2-2, 7-1-1) travel to New Mexico Highlands for a 1 p.m. contest on October 31 before returning to Golden for the regular season finale on November 2 at 12 p.m. against Adams State.
