WEEK EIGHT RECAP
Mines remained unbeaten at home in 2025 as they closed out a four-match stretch at Stermole Stadium against #20 Colorado Mesa and Westminster. Friday night, the Orediggers faced down 27 shots by the Mavericks as
Allie Lundgren recorded a career-high nine saves in a scoreless draw. Sunday, the Griffins scored first before
Bella Campos tied the match with help from
Afton Rasco and
Gaby Guerrero before taking the lead on her third penalty kick conversion of the season. Lundgren and a patchwork defense proceeded to spin a second half shutout on the way to a 2-1 win.
AT THE HELM
2025 marks the 16th season leading Mines for boss
Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 254-44-42 (.809), he ranks sixth in all of the NCAA and third in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 39 All-America selections, 19 Academic All-America selections, 87 all-conference honorees and 32 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
THE CAPTAINS
After having the same trio of captains for each of the last two seasons, a new group will be wearing the "C" for the Orediggers in 2025 as
Callie Fuhr,
Natalie Rouse and
Bella Campos will lead the way this fall.
Fuhr, a fixture on the Orediggers' back line since 2022, has started 53 consecutive matches going back to October of her debut season and enters this fall with seven career points thanks to a goal and five assists. Across 67 matches in her career, she's clocked more than 5,250 minutes and in 2024 led the team with 2,064 minutes of action.
Rouse, the 2023 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in her debut season in Golden, returns to action in 2025 after missing the final 21 matches of 2024 due to injury and will lineup alongside Fuhr to anchor the Mines defense at center back. The former All-America selection has started all of the 24 career matches in her career as an Oredigger and owns seven goals and an assist for 15 points in more than 2,100 minutes of action.
Campos, the latest prolific striker to come through Mines, already sports her name in the program record books in numerous places. The 2023 RMAC Freshman of the Year and 2024 RMAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-American, Campos looks to step into a larger role in 2025 as an everyday starter. Despite just making 16 starts in her first 45 career matches, Campos has been a prolific producer on offense regardless of her role with 30 goals and 11 assists for 71 points in just over 2,100 minutes played.
A veteran and experienced group that has plenty of RMAC and NCAA Tournament experience, this trio will look to make an impact as leaders of the program heading into this fall.
IN THE POLLS
In the RMAC preseason coaches poll released in early August, the Orediggers were picked to repeat as league champions behind nine first place ballots of the 13 head coaches in the league. UCCS earned three first place ballots and was picked second with Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis rounding out the top five.
Nationally, the top five on the women's side comprised of the same five times, with some variation to the order. Dallas Baptist and Minnesota State remained 1-2 followed by Catawba and Cal Poly Pomona in third and fourth after the two traded places this week. Grand Valley State rounded out the top five, remaining fifth.
Around the RMAC, UCCS and Colorado Mesa maintained their standing at #14 and #20 respectively.
Also this week, the first batch of NCAA Regional rankings were released. As has been the case in recent years, the preliminary rankings are non-numerical and solely list teams under consideration. Along with Mines, seven other schools are under consideration in the South Central Region including Colorado Mesa, Regis and UCCS from the RMAC and DBU, Midwestern State, Texas Woman's and UT Tyler from the Lone Star Conference.
CHECKING THE STANDINGS
A quick reminder: because of a no-contest between Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa, the regular season champion and postseason seeding will be determined based on a points per match average.
As the regular season winds down and teams have between two and three matches remaining, three clubs have already locked themselves into the postseason. Colorado Mesa leads the way with a 7-0-1 record and a 2.75 PPM followed by UCCS at 8-1-1 and 2.50. The Orediggers are third at 7-1-1 and 2.44 with Fort Lewis right behind in fourth at 5-2-1 and 2.00. Regis is fifth at 5-2-3 and 1.80 with Westminster in sixth at 3-2-4 and 1.44. CSU Pueblo is seventh at 2-4-3 with an even 1.00 PPM while Colorado Christian (1-3-5) and Adams State (2-5-2) are tied for the final spot at 0.89.
MSU Denver and Western Colorado are still in the fight at 1-4-4 and 0.78 each, with Black Hills State slipping out of contention at 1-6-3 and 0.60 while New Mexico Highlands is likely looking toward 2026 at 0-9-0.
WEEKLY AWARD WINNER
For the second time this season and fifth time in her career,
Allie Lundgren has been named RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week following her performances against Colorado Mesa and Westminster. Read more about Lungren's weekend in goal
here.
LEAGUE LEADERS
To the surprise of few,
Bella Campos remains one of the top goal scorers in the RMAC this fall and after last weekend, now sits back atop the league rankings with 10 goals scored. Her 23 points also lead the league by five back to Kylie Wells of Colorado Mesa.
Along with Campos,
Natalie Rouse and
Lindsay Jeans are all tied for seventh in the RMAC with two game-winning goals.
Afton Rasco and her six assists are tied for the league lead while
Kaitlyn Manalili is fifth with four.
In goal,
Allie Lundgren is fifth in GAA at 0.90 and tied for seventh with 40 saves.
ON THE SPOT
Penalty kicks aren't necessarily a regular occurrence over the course of a season, but they also aren't necessarily a rarity either. This fall, Mines has made a living on earning PKs and converting them, going 6-6 from the spot this season. That's a new single-season record for the most PKs, breaking the previous mark of five set back in 2008. In addition, the six PKs awarded are now tied with the 2008 season for second all-time and trails only the 2024 season in which seven PKs were awarded. To top it off, the Orediggers are tied for the lead Division II in penalties this fall and are among the leaders from the spot across all levels of the NCAA.
MILESTONE WIN
Back on October 17, Mines' win over Colorado Christian was another milestone mark in the legendary career of Orediggers head coach
Kevin Fickes. Nearly four years to the day of his 200th career win, the Mines skipper banked #250 at the same venue against the same opponent thanks to a 1-0 win over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood. Over his first 15 seasons, the Orediggers have averaged better than 16 wins per season under Fickes' direction and have won at least 11 matches in 15 of those seasons (Mines went 7-0-3 in the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season). On pace to put up similar numbers this season, Fickes and the Orediggers will look to continue handling their business as they now set their sights on the second half of the 2025 regular season and the postseason.
MAKING THEIR MARK
Several active Orediggers are making their mark on the program's record books this season as they continue their careers. Most recently,
Allie Lundgren became just the seventh goalkeeper in program history to record 100 career saves, doing so at MSU Denver on October 12. Entering this weekend, she stands at 118 in her career to take over fifth place all-time from Marissa Burson (2005-06) and is eight back of Sierra Roth (2018-21) for fourth.
Lundgren is also now sixth in career shutouts with 15, and is two back of Zumbro for a top five spot in that category as well. Meanwhile, her 0.66 goals against average also ranks sixth.
Sadie Wolf's mark of 0.58 GAA puts her ahead of Lundgren in fifth while her 87 saves rank eighth all-time and 18 shutouts are good for fourth.
Bella Campos meanwhile continues to pile up the goals and the points with 42 and 98 respectively through the first 59 matches of her career. She's now in sole possession of fourth all-time in goals scored, passing Megan Woodworth (2009-12) and is now two points away from becoming the fifth Oredigger with 100 points in a career. Campos also has 10 game-winners, passing Nicole LaTourette (2016-19) for sixth all-time. She's also chasing a spot in the top five in assists as she stands at 14 entering the weekend. In addition, Campos currently ranks fifth among active players in Division II with 42 career goals.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS
The Cowgirls have had a challenging 2025 season and enter action Friday losers of their last 11 matches, though they did take UCCS to the brink on Thursday before losing 3-2. Sunday NMHU was blown out Colorado Christian 7-1 after allowing five or more goals for the fourth time this fall.
After scoring three goals in their first 11 matches, NMHU has matched that total over their last two contests. Kate Rayner leads the way with two goals while Ninon Rigal, Isavel Glenn, Jacquie McPherson and Lina Villanueva all have one goal each.
Four players have a single assist as along with Rigal, Vivi Muñoz, Mia Roybal and Nella Vaquerano also have one.

They have been whistled for 90 fouls and issued 11 yellow cards with two ejections.
SCOUTING ADAMS STATE
The Grizzlies have won as many games this fall as they did the previous two seasons combined and are just one win away from tying their highest win total in the last decade which was a seven-win season in 2016. ASU will host CSU Pueblo Thursday before heading north to Golden for Sunday's clash.
Despite not winning a match since October 5, ASU still finds themselves in the mix for a spot in the postseason, even with a mark of 0-4-2 in their last six matches. Last weekend, they played a 1-1 draw at MSU Denver before being shutout 4-0 at UCCS.
Just five players have scored for the Grizzlies this fall, led by Division I transfer Fatso Williams with eight after she arrived in Alamosa from the University of New Mexico. Grace Abbott is second on the team with six goals while Ashlyn De Lemos and Mia Del Muro have two each. Maddie Landman completes the scoring with one goal.
Three players are tied for the team lead in assists as Williams, Abbott and Colette Tena have three apiece. Lauren Ocampo and Keira Robertson each have two while six Grizzlies have a single assist to their ledgers.

Bartley is 6-6-3 with four solo shutouts as well. Kena Keyes has played the remaining 23:02 in goal over two matches and made two saves without a goal against four shots and combined with Bartley for one shutout.
For the season, Adams State is +2 in goal differential at 19-17 and averages 1.27 goals in 12.7 shots per match while allowing 1.13 goals on 9.3 shots.
