POWER POD!
Another Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pod has arrived. This weekend, all RMAC volleyball teams compete in the 2025 Power Pod, and that includes Colorado School of Mines. The Orediggers' Power Pod takes them to Durango, Colo., for a neutral-site match against UCCS on Friday and a showdown with Fort Lewis on Saturday. Results don't count toward the conference standings, but the outcomes could impact a shot at the NCAA tournament. First serve on Friday is at 4 p.m. Saturday starts up at 3 p.m.

LIVE COVERAGE
Both matches will stream on the RMAC Network (pay-per-view). There will also be free live stats linked above and at www.minesathletics.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines hosted Colorado Mesa and Westminster last Friday and Saturday at Lockridge Arena and finished the weekend with a 2-0 record. Friday's match against CMU turned into a reverse sweep in favor of the Orediggers. They fell behind 0-2 before winning three-straight frames in the five-set victory. Amanda Donais Dudley, Francesca Nuzzo, and Hailee Martinez each produced a double-double. Donais Dudley's included 16 kills on .308 hitting with 12 digs and seven blocks to boot. Nuzzo put up 10 kills, 13 digs, and three blocks. Martinez handed out 35 assists and had 14 digs. Also notable was a career-match for Jada Price who tallied 26 digs, six assists, and three service aces – all career highs. Saturday brought an unremarkable sweep of the Griffins. Jenna McLaughlin knocked down 11 kills. Naomi Romslo had 10 kills on .500 hitting. Jada Price recorded 15 digs. Abbie O'Shay was big with four total blocks.

RUNNIN' HOT
Two wins last weekend extended the Orediggers' current winning streak to five. It's their longest winning streak this season after starting the year 4-0 for the first time since 2018. Mines' surge also marks the longest winning streak for the program since the 2022 campaign. Even more impressive is the streak started on the road and includes three wins away from home. That's notable because the Orediggers are 10-1 at home in 2025, but just 3-3 in true road matches. They are 3-0 in neutral-site matches. The run marks the third-longest, active winning streak in the conference.

SCOUTING UCCS
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs started the season hot and hasn't cooled much. At 18-2, the Mountain Lions are enjoying their most successful campaign since at least 2016. They only have one loss in conference play and are tied for first in the RMAC standings. One five-set loss at CSU Pueblo during the RMAC Regional pod, and a sweep at the hands of then-#12 MSU Denver are the only blemishes on UCCS' schedule. Currently, the Mountain Lions are enjoying an eight-match win streak. They do play Fort Lewis on Thursday evening in Durango before taking on Mines on Friday. In the national statistical rankings, Nicole Martin is top-25 in the nation in serving. Also, Maylen Mitrovich owns a triple-double. Payton Tompkins leads the team's attack behind 249 kills and .272 hitting. The Mountain Lions' two setters are Audrey Dowd and Mitrovich. Defensively, Mackenzie Ransom is averaging 3.44 digs per set and Martin touts 74.0 total blocks. It's worth mentioning that UCCS is 10-0 at home, 5-2 on the road, and 3-0 in neutral-site contests.

OREDIGGERS AGAINST THE MOUNTAIN LIONS
Mines and UCCS played their conference match earlier this season in Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions won in straight sets. That moved the all-time record between the two volleyball teams to 33-25, still in favor of the Orediggers. Mines is 9-1 in its last 10 meetings with the Mountain Lions and 18-2 in its last 20 meetings with UCCS. The Sept. 20 loss included five blocks by Abbie O'Shay and four blocks off the hands of Amanda Donais Dudley. Francesca Nuzzo had eight kills on .368 hitting.

SCOUTING FORT LEWIS
Fort Lewis College, like UCCS, is enjoying a historic season. The Skyhawks are 14-5 overall and 8-2 in RMAC play which puts them third in the conference standings. Their two conference losses came at home against South Dakota Mines and at home against Colorado School of Mines, both in five sets. Last weekend, FLC downed Adams State in four sets at Plachy Hall and outlasted New Mexico Highlands, 3-2, at the John A. Wilson Complex. As a team, the Skyhawks rank #22 in the nation in digs per set. That ranking is fueled by Alyx Daugherty and Emery Pomroy who are both averaging well over 4.00 digs per set. Cambria Freymuth's 186 kills make her FLC's top hitter. Arianna Reyna and Addie Garn handle the setting duties and Reyna boasts 21 service aces. At the net, Ella Butler leads the team with 44.0 blocks at a clip of 0.65 blocks per set.

OREDIGGERS AGAINST THE SKYHAWKS
It's only been two weeks since Mines and Fort Lewis faced off in Durango. The conference showdown ended in a 3-2 victory for the Orediggers. Now, the all-time record between Mines and FLC is 38-36 with the Orediggers holding a narrow edge. Prior to a four-set loss last season in Durango, Mines had defeated the Skyhawks in 21 consecutive meetings dating back to 2008. This season's Oct. 17 match featured 13 kills and 18 digs with three blocks from Amanda Donais Dudley. Abbie O'Shay added 10 kills while Jada Price had 20 digs. Hailee Martinez was huge after 46 assists, five service aces, and 11 digs.

JADA JOINS THE CLUB
During Mines' last match at Fort Lewis, Jada Price surpassed 1,000 digs as an Oredigger. She hit the milestone on the nose thanks to 20 digs in the five-set thriller in Durango. Now, in just under four collegiate seasons, Price owns 1,055 digs, 164 assists, 72 service aces, and four kills from the back row. The last Oredigger to go over 1,000 career digs was Elle Duis who played from 2018-11 and is now an assistant coach for Mines. Duis also happens to be the program's all-time leader in digs with a total of 2,285 across five seasons.

1000 KILLS
Earlier this season, Amanda Donais Dudley surpassed 1,000 kills for her collegiate career. The crafty veteran now touts 1,109 kills along with 921 digs, 233 total blocks, 105 aces, and 103 assists. Those who are quick with the simple match know Donais Dudley sits just 67 digs from a second admittance into Club 1K. Donais Dudley originally played for Mines from 2018-21 and was an all-American as a senior. She finished her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and graduated in the spring of 2022. However, Donais Dudley still had a year of college eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, when she decided to come back to Mines for a master's degree in mechanical engineering, she decided to play some more volleyball. The 2025 season will be Donais Dudley's final collegiate campaign.

STANDING IN THE HALL OF FAME
Five-time all-American Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood was announced as a member of the Mines Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 over the summer. She was officially enshrined on Oct. 4. One of the most decorated players in Mines volleyball history, Johnson-Hazlewood is one of an elite few Orediggers in any sport to have been a four-year RMAC champion. She led Mines to the conference regular-season titles in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Johnson-Hazlewood also helped the Orediggers win the RMAC Tournament title as a senior in 2015. Fans can read her entire Mines Athletics Hall of Fame profile HERE.

AT THE HELM
Head Coach Jamie Magalei is in her 18th season leading the Mines volleyball program. She is easily the program's all-time leader in total wins and win percentage at 379-143 (.726). Magalei surpassed 300 career wins in 2021. She's one of six to reach the milestone while coaching in the RMAC. Through 2024, Magalei has coached 31 all-America selections, three Academic All-Americans, and 66 all-conference performers. Her resume also includes three Regional Players of the Year, two Regional Freshmen of the Year, and 16 RMAC major award winners. Magalei has guided Mines to six RMAC regular-season championships, and five RMAC Tournament titles with 13 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 2009-22 (no NCAA tournament in 2020). The North Dakota native also guided the Orediggers to either a conference regular-season or tournament title every season from 2012-21 including a sweep of both in 2015.

After the RMAC Power Pod, conference play resumes as Mines returns home to host Black Hills State on Nov.7 and South Dakota Mines on Nov.8. The two days also serve as Alumni, Parent, and Senior Weekend. Both contests will have live video available with a subscription to the RMAC Network.
