LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Colorado School of Mines men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped their action at Laramie High School on Saturday afternoon.
The men's head-to-head dual with Wyoming resulted in a 193.5-65.5 margin in favor of the Cowboys. Mines' women had a tri meet against Wyoming and Northern Colorado. Both NCAA Division I programs prevailed over the Orediggers. A final score of 203-53 was the tally between Mines and the hosts. Northern Colorado grabbed a 213-43 decision.
Despite the margins, Mines still had plenty of highlights. For the men,
Charlie Krone won the 200-free with a time of 1:43.06, and Kazakin was third in 1:43.89.
Joe Hutchinson grabbed bronze with a 26.73 in the 50-breast. Hoke added another third-place finish for Mines in the 200-fly by swimming 1:58.47.
Bruno Albertoni was third in the 3-meter dive thanks to a score of 270.5.
Fausto Angelone Lopez nabbed silver in the 200-IM at a 1:59.58 clip.
Reid Wilkerson blazed a 1:57.23 in the 200-back which was good enough for third. It was silver for
Jack Fulham in the 50-fly after a 23.13 finish. Angelone Lopez added another top-three finish in the 200-breast with a time of 2:17.53.
Vladislav Kazakin continued his tear in the 500-free, taking silver in 4:43.07. Top-three finishes for the men were capped in the 200-freestyle relay where
Dan Berke,
Kevin Burns,
Jack Fulham, and
Charlie Krone teamed up for a 1:24.71.
On the women's side,
Michelle Murphy churned out a 1:58.47 in the 200-free.
Jordan Tierney flew in the 50-breast, posting a time of 29.92.
Anna Bream stood out in the 200-IM with her 2:12.22 pace. Bream struck again with silver and a time of 2:25.47 in the 200-breast. The final event of the day was the 200-freestyle relay where Tierney,
Sophia Cristal,
Abby Swanson, and
Kylie VanderMeer went 1:38.85.
Mines will take a week off from racing before hosting Colorado College on Oct. 24. That date will also mark the official return of Oredigger diving. Free live results will be available at
