GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines women's swimming team passed the program record four times in the 200 butterfly on Saturday as the Oredigger men and women closed their trip to the TYR/CMU Invitational hosted by Colorado Mesa.

Saturday started with distance, but the story was the women's butterfly. Mikaela Khan broke her own program record in prelims. Kaya Flaherty broke that record in her prelim race just minutes later. Then, Savannah Karas' NCAA "B" time during "B" finals reupped the record. Finally, Khan ended up on top, winning the entire event with a 2:02.28 NCAA pace. As a true freshman, Khan's previous best, without conversion for altitude, was 2:05.87 against Colorado College earlier this season.

Outside of the butterfly battle, the Orediggers had plenty of highlights. Vladislav Kazakin won the 1650-free in his collegiate debut in the event. His 15:42.17 was a NCAA "B" cut and nearly a program record. Jake Sherman, Lucas Hoke, and Nathan Moss had national times in the same race. The women's 100-free saw bronze from Jennifer Pierson who also posted two different NCAA times between prelims and finals, as did Kaya Flaherty in the same event. Brenden Cook went 2-for-2 in national times in the men's 100-free and was fourth on the day. The women's 200-breast saw Anna Bream, Jordan Tierney, and Cameryn Schmidt post times faster than the NCAA "B" standard.

Finally, in the women's 400-freestyle relay, Mines broke the program record when Tierney, Ava LaBrose, Flaherty, and Jennifer Pierson posted a 3:28.11. That marked the third relay record of the weekend for the Oredigger weekend. Furthermore, Vladislav Kazakin was the high-point scorer on the men's side. Anna Bream tied for second in highest points on the women's side. The final team scores had Colorado Mesa first for the men with 1,744 points and the Orediggers second with 988 points. The women's standings closed with 1,207 points for CMU, 1,039 points for NCAA Division I for Northern Arizona and 780 points for Mines.

The conclusion of the TYR/CMU Invitational brings the Orediggers into a two-month break. Mines returns to action in early January at the University of Denver.
