LAST TIME OUT
Mines closed the regular season Wednesday with a 1-1 draw on the road at CSU Pueblo. Bella Campos scored midway through the first half straight off a free kick to put Mines in a prime spot for the win. Unfortunately, the final four minutes saw a missed PK by the Orediggers followed by an equalizer off a corner kick by the ThunderWolves as they came back to force the draw.

AT THE HELM
2025 marks the 16th season leading Mines for boss Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 256-44-43 (.809), he ranks sixth in all of the NCAA and third in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 39 All-America selections, 19 Academic All-America selections, 87 all-conference honorees and 32 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

THE CAPTAINS
After having the same trio of captains for each of the last two seasons, a new group will be wearing the "C" for the Orediggers in 2025 as Callie Fuhr, Natalie Rouse and Bella Campos will lead the way this fall.

Fuhr, a fixture on the Orediggers' back line since 2022, has started 53 consecutive matches going back to October of her debut season and enters this fall with seven career points thanks to a goal and five assists. Across 67 matches in her career, she's clocked more than 5,250 minutes and in 2024 led the team with 2,064 minutes of action.

Rouse, the 2023 RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in her debut season in Golden, returns to action in 2025 after missing the final 21 matches of 2024 due to injury and will lineup alongside Fuhr to anchor the Mines defense at center back. The former All-America selection has started all of the 24 career matches in her career as an Oredigger and owns seven goals and an assist for 15 points in more than 2,100 minutes of action.

Campos, the latest prolific striker to come through Mines, already sports her name in the program record books in numerous places. The 2023 RMAC Freshman of the Year and 2024 RMAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-American, Campos looks to step into a larger role in 2025 as an everyday starter. Despite just making 16 starts in her first 45 career matches, Campos has been a prolific producer on offense regardless of her role with 30 goals and 11 assists for 71 points in just over 2,100 minutes played.

A veteran and experienced group that has plenty of RMAC and NCAA Tournament experience, this trio will look to make an impact as leaders of the program heading into this fall.

IN THE POLLS
In the RMAC preseason coaches poll released in early August, the Orediggers were picked to repeat as league champions behind nine first place ballots of the 13 head coaches in the league. UCCS earned three first place ballots and was picked second with Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis rounding out the top five.

Nationally, Mines remained seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25. This week's rankings saw the most stability of the season with just two changes in the top 14. Dallas Baptist remains the top team in the country followed by Minnesota State, Catawba, Cal Poly Pomona while West Florida usurped Grand Valley State this week for fifth.
Around the RMAC, UCCS remained at #14 for the third week in a row while Colorado Mesa dropped three spots to 23rd. Fort Lewis entered the national conversation this week as they received votes.

The latest NCAA Regional rankings released Wednesday and had the Orediggers at #2 in the South Central Region. National #1 DBU led the way ahead of Mines followed by Colorado Mesa and UCCS. Midwestern State was fifth followed by Regis in sixth with Texas Woman's and UT Tyler in seventh and eighth as the first two teams out of the six-team field.

SETTING THE FIELD
A quick reminder: because of a no-contest between Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa, the regular season champion and postseason seeding will be determined based on a points per match average.

Colorado Mesa clinched the #1 seed and regular season championship this fall and has earned a bye to the semifinals and hosting rights for the semifinals and championship starting next Wednesday in Grand Junction. Mines secured the #2 seed with #3 UCCS and #4 Fort Lewis rounding out the top of the bracket. Seed 5-8 are comprised of Regis, Westminster, Adams State and CSU Pueblo.

Tournament action begins Friday at 2 p.m. with a play-in match between the Grizzlies and ThunderWolves in Alamosa. The winner of that match advances to take on the Orediggers Sunday at 12 p.m. from Stermole Stadium. Other quarterfinals Sunday include Regis at Fort Lewis and Westminster at UCCS. The winners of Sunday's matches will advance to the semifinals in Grand Junction with the host Mavericks awaiting the winner between the Rangers and Skyhawks. The second semifinal will feature the winners from the quarterfinals in Golden and Colorado Springs. The championship match is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday November 15.

WEEKLY AWARD WINNER
For the first time this season and second time in her career, Mines striker Bella Campos has been named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance to end the regular season. Read more about Campos' three-game run to the award here.

DIDN'T WE JUST…?
Regardless of who wins Friday's play-in match, Sunday will be the second matchup in the span of a week between the Orediggers and either the Grizzlies or ThunderWolves. Last Sunday, Mines hosted Adams State and dispatched the Grizzlies 3-1 behind goals from Gaby Guerrero, Natalie Rouse and Bella Campos. Wednesday Mines was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with the ThunderWolves as a first-half goal by Campos was wiped out by a late equalizer by CSUP in the closing minutes. The last time Mines played the same team in the span of a week, their fortunes weren't so good as Colorado Mesa came into Golden twice in the 2023 postseason and knocked off the Orediggers first for the RMAC Tournament title, then again to bounce Mines from the NCAA Tournament in the second round. Hopefully no such result befalls the Orediggers this time around as they look to get another game in the RMAC Tournament.

LEAGUE LEADERS
With the regular season in the books, Bella Campos has claimed the regular season scoring title with 16 goals and 36 points over Abby Stassi of UCCS. Campos also led the league in shots with 61, and was second in shots on goal with 29. Afton Rasco's nine assists also led the RMAC this fall while Kaitlyn Manalili was tied for fourth with six. Campos, Natalie Rouse and Lindsay Jeans also ranked in the top 10 in game-winners, with Campos' four being good for a four-way tie for second, Rouse's three tying for sixth and Jean's two tying for 10th. Between the pipes, Allie Lundgren ranked fifth in the RMAC in goals against average at 0.79 and saves with 60 while her .833 save rate was good for fourth. She also ranked sixth with five shutouts.

As a team, Mines boasted the #2 offense in the RMAC with 33 goals scored and was tied for fourth defensively with 13 goals allowed. Their seven penalty kicks led the lead by four over the two next closest teams while their 87 corner kicks were the fourth-most this fall. The Orediggers were also the cleanest team this year as they led the league with the fewest fouls at 96, the only team under 100 on the year. Their three yellow cards were also the fewest in the conference.

ON THE SPOT
Penalty kicks aren't necessarily a regular occurrence over the course of a season, but they also aren't necessarily a rarity either. This fall, Mines has made a living on earning PKs and converting them, going 7-8 from the spot this season. That's a new single-season record for the most PKs, breaking the previous mark of five set back in 2008. In addition, the eight PKs awarded a new single-season record, breaking last year's tally of seven. To top it off, the Orediggers now lead Division II in penalties this fall and are among the leaders from the spot across all levels of the NCAA.

MILESTONE WIN
Back on October 17, Mines' win over Colorado Christian was another milestone mark in the legendary career of Orediggers head coach Kevin Fickes. Nearly four years to the day of his 200th career win, the Mines skipper banked #250 at the same venue against the same opponent thanks to a 1-0 win over Colorado Christian at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood. Over his first 15 seasons, the Orediggers have averaged better than 16 wins per season under Fickes' direction and have won at least 11 matches in 15 of those seasons (Mines went 7-0-3 in the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season). On pace to put up similar numbers this season, Fickes and the Orediggers will look to continue handling their business as they now set their sights on the second half of the 2025 regular season and the postseason.

MAKING THEIR MARK
Several active Orediggers are making their mark on the program's record books this season as they continue their careers. Most recently, Allie Lundgren became just the seventh goalkeeper in program history to record 100 career saves, doing so at MSU Denver on October 12. Entering this weekend, she stands at 125 in her career and trails Sierra Roth (2018-21) by one for fourth all-time. Lundgren is also now sixth in career shutouts with 15, and is two back of Zumbro for a top five spot in that category as well. Meanwhile, her 0.65 goals against average also ranks sixth.

Sadie Wolf's mark of 0.58 GAA puts her ahead of Lundgren in fifth while her 87 saves rank eighth all-time and 18 shutouts are good for fourth.

Bella Campos meanwhile continues to pile up the goals and the points. Friday at New Mexico Highlands, she became the fifth player in program history to surpass 100 career points and stands at 107 through 62 matches. She's also rapidly approaching 50 goals with 46 as she looks to become the fourth player in program history to reach that mark. Campos is also knocking on the door to the top 10 in assists with 15, trailing Reese McDermott by five. Additionally, her 12 game-winners have her one back of fourth all-time and Megan Woodworth (2009-12). Campos currently ranks third among active players in Division II and tied for 17th across all levels of the NCAA with 46 career goals.

Afton Rasco and Kaitlyn Manalili are also looking to further pen their name into the program records when it comes to assists with 17 and 15 respectively, while Rasco recently broke into the top 10 all-time in points and is currently tied for eighth with Jennifer Kendall (2015-18) with 53.

STERMOLE SUCCESS
It's no surprise that playing at home provides an advantage for teams, no matter the sport. The Orediggers though have taken that advantage to mean just a little bit more in their 21 years of existence, posting a mark of 155-16-20 at Stermole Stadium going back to 2009 when the venue opened. All-time, Mines has an .864 winning percentage in the building and is 31-4-8 in the postseason. Currently, the Orediggers are riding a 19-match unbeaten streak at home going back to the start of the 2024 season, during which time they have gone 17-0-2. That run is the third-longest streak all-time and needs just one more match to become the fourth such streak to reach 20 matches or more in length all-time. Mines last home loss came at the hands of Colorado Mesa in the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

CHECKING THE STATS
Bella Campos remains the teams leader in goals and now stands alone atop the RMAC this fall with 16 and along with her four assists, has 36 points. Gaby Guerrero, Lindsay Jeans, Callie Fuhr and Annelise Rojo have each scored twice while Natalie Mezarina and Caelan DeBolt round out the scoring with one goal each.

Behind Rasco when it comes to assists is Kaitlyn Manalili who has now matched her career-high of six assists from last season. Behind Campos' four, Anna Gessner has two while Guerrero, Jeans, Mezarina and Jordan Bowermaster all have one.

In goal, Allie Lundgren has started all 17 matches this fall for 1,366:07 and faced 202 shots. In that time, she's made 60 saves against 12 goals allowed for an .833 save rate and a 0.79 GAA on her way to a 12-2-3 record and five shutouts. Emma Thomas has seen more action down the stretch and now appeared five times for 163:53 and allowed one goal with 10 saves against 23 shots for a .909 save rate and a 0.55 GAA. They have been whistled for 96 fouls and issued three yellow cards.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State has made history this season by posting eight wins, the most in their existence and posting a +6 win improvement from last fall and winning three more games in 2025 than they did in 2023 and 2024 combined. The Grizzlies won two of three matches to end the regular season, posting 2-0 and 4-0 shutouts of CSU Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands with a 3-1 loss to Mines in between. They posted another 2-0 win of CSUP Friday in the play-in match to advance to the quarterfinals.

Eight players have scored for the Grizzlies this fall, led by Division I transfer Fatso Williams with nine after she arrived in Alamosa from the University of New Mexico. Grace Abbott is second on the team with six goals while Ashlyn De Lemos has four while Mia Del Muro and Ashlynn Mustain each have three. Maddie Landman, Lorena Vargas-Galvin and Keira Robertson complete the scoring with one goal each.

Abbott leads ASU with four assists while Williams and Colette Tena are tie for second with three. Mustain, Robertson, Del Muro, Annabell Haugen and Lauren Ocampo each have two while five Grizzlies have a single assist to their ledgers.

Between the pipes, Ashlyn Bartley has started all 19 matches for 1,641:58. In that time, she has seen 157 shots and made 55 saves and allowed 19 goals for a 1.04 GAA and a .743 save percentage. Bartley is 9-7-3 with seven solo shutouts as well. Kena Keyes has played the remaining 68:02 in goal over three matches and made five saves without a goal against 14 shots and combined with Bartley for one shutout.

For the season, Adams State is +8 in goal differential at 28-20 and averages 1.47 goals on 13.2 shots per match while allowing 1.05 goals on 9.5 shots. They have 25 assists on their 28 goals and have made 63 saves defensively. The Grizzlies are 3-4 from the spot and have taken 73 corner kicks. They have been whistled for fouls 130 times, assessed 10 cautions and issued two ejections.
