ALAMOSA, Colo. - #16 Colorado School of Mines remained unbeaten in the RMAC, rallying to top Adams State 25-13 on the road Saturday.
For a second straight dual, all five of Mines' upperweights won to overcome a 12-3 deficit through 157 pounds, with #14
Wyatt Reisz's fall and
Mason Diel's major decision at 174-184 proving key.
The Orediggers (10-2, 4-0 RMAC) had to play catchup after the Grizzlies won four of the first five bouts, with #5 Isaiah Gamez outlasting #9
Christian Lopez 6-3 in a top-10 battle at 125, Angel Flores upsetting #4
Grayston DiBlasi 7-1 at 141, Kieran Thompson beating
Ben Fanelli 8-1 at 149, and Aaden Valdez beating #11
Marcus Caro 9-0 at 157. In the midst of that run, only
Trebor Moreno came out with a victory, beating Adam Concepcion 5-1 at 133.
Things turned around for Mines starting at 165 pounds with a win by forfeit for
Jakob Smith, and Reisz's third-period pin of Dallas Porter immediately put Mines ahead 15-12.
Mason Diel dominated in his 17-3 major over Sergio Zaragoza, and
Jeffery Morosini sealed the win thanks to an 11-4 win over Josh Coon at 197.
Cade Whish punctuated the win with his 7-3 decision against Ronan Melani at heavyweight.
