GOLDEN, Colo. -
Tristin David won the 165-pound weight class to lead Colorado School of Mines at the regular-season-ending Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open Sunday at Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
David went 3-0 to capture the 165-pound title as one of five placewinners for the Orediggers.
Deandre Rucker ended with his hand raised as the third-placed heavyweight,
Mason Diel was fourth at 184,
Kaleb Valdez-Lemos finished on a win for fifth at 165, and
Ben Fanelli was eighth at 149.
David's day started with a first-period pin over Wil Moneypenny of Colorado Mesa, and he followed that with a dominating 13-1 major over Army Prep's Arvin Khosravy in the semifinals. In the final, he edged Mario Tafoya of CSU Pueblo 6-5, scoring an escape, penalty point, and then a last-second takedown in the third period after trailing Tafoya 5-1.
Rucker racked up bonus points in a 3-1 tournament, picking up two major decisions and a fall on the day. Rucker topped Adams State's Ronan Melani 12-4 and pinned CSU Pueblo's Markel Nicholson in 2:43 to make it to the semifinals where he lost to Air Force's Soren Herzog. In the third-place bout, Rucker cruised 12-0 in a shutout of Air Force's Peyton Hahn.
Diel wrestled only two matches and impressed with a pair of falls, needing only 1:29 to pin CSU Pueblo's Tyler Ziek in the first round before pinning teammate
Ethan Kremer in the quarterfinals. Diel withdrew from the tournament before the semis.
Valdez-Lemos went 3-1, bouncing back from an opening-round pin to reel off three straight wins through the fifth-place bout. His wins included a 7-3 decision over Moneypenny, a 14-4 major of Adams State's Luke Diehl, and a 5-4 win in the placing round against Colorado Mesa's William Alvarado.
Fanelli went 3-2 at 149 pounds, getting to the quarterfinals with decisions over Fort Hays State's Justus Hulse, 4-3, and teammate
Carson Dulitz, 7-1, before a quarterfinal loss to Royce Uhrig of Adams State. Fanelli then majored Western Colorado's Celestino Gonzales before exiting in the consolation semifinals.
Xander Sweeney went 1-2 with a win by fall at 133, while
Cole O'Brien picked up a major decision win in a 1-2 day at 141. Dulitz ended up 1-2 with an opening-round decision at 149, and
Grant Crownhart was 1-2 at 174.
Timber Parlin was 1-2 with a win by major decision at 184, and
Ethan Kremer was 1-2 after an opening-round win over Kai Saito of Western Colorado, 12-10.

Avery Krippner (184) were 0-2 on the day.
Mines will now prep for the NCAA Super Region VI Tournament coming up March 1 at Western Colorado.
