Orediggers Fall at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team dropped a 75-59 game to UCCS on Thursday night at the Gallogly Event Center.

Jenna Siebert scored 23 points in the loss. She also had four assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. Jade Leon scored 12 points and added three assists, two rebounds, and one steal. Josephine Howery rounded out a trio of double-digit scorers with her 10 points. Howery bolstered her resume with six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal. Despite making more three-pointers, Mines (12-15, 10-9 RMAC) fell after UCCS (16-10, 12-7 RMAC) shot over 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from behind the arc and 74 percent at the charity stripe. The Orediggers drained seven three-pointers, but missed eight free throws and converted at a 41.4-percent clip from the floor. The Mountain Lions won on the glass and only committed 16 fouls compared to 27 by the Orediggers. The turnover margin was a wash.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mines owned a 21-19 advantage at the end of the first quarter thanks to 11 points from Siebert. The Mountain Lions used an 11-2 run in the second quarter to take a 38-34 lead into halftime.
