DENVER, Colo. – The nationally-ranked Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams closed day one of the First Chance Invitational on Friday at the University of Denver's El Pomar Natatorium.

Jaron O'Grady headlined the day for Mines by taking bronze in the 200-fly after touching the wall in 1:52.35. He was one of eight Orediggers swimmers competing at the non-scored event which featured only NCAA Division I competition outside of Mines. Lucas Waasdorp was 11th in the 200-free thanks to a time of 1:43.50. Ava Burger's 58.34 was good enough for ninth in the 100-back. Teammate Kerrigan Hemp was a spot bock in the same race, clocking a 58.42. Jack Engler raced the 100-breast and finished 11th in 58.18. Abby Swanson sprinted the 50-free at a 24.60 clip and tied for 14th. Sawyer Jones' sprint resulted in a 20.61 which slotted him sixth. Joseph Lev-Tov closed the day by going a mile in 16:18.91 to claim fifth.
