BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Colorado School of Mines went under par to finish 12th at the nationally-elite Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek GC.
The Orediggers had their best round of the week with a three-under 285 to finish the tournament, which included 16 teams ranked inside the top 50 and six in the top 10 of the latest Scoreboard rankings.
Lukas Taggart finished 14th to top the leaderboard for the Orediggers, while
Colt Tenpenny and
Lucas Schulte surged with red scores on Tuesday.
Taggart held at -5 for the tournament to finish in 14th place, carding an even-par 72 for his third consecutive top-20 finish. Tenpenny was the day's big mover, marking down seven birdies en route to his four-under 68 to get into a tie for 52nd at +4. He was one of three Orediggers at that score as Schulte - highlighted by his second eagle of the tournament - went two-under at 70 to get to +4, and
Theodore Reitter capped off his week with a 75 to land at the same score.
Max Lange also shot 75 on Tuesday to be +8 overall and in 70th place.
#1 Colorado Christian won the team title at -28 with #13 Florida Southern second at -20. St. Mary's Baptiste Touchard won medalist honors by a stroke at -12.
Mines will host the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout on March 21, then The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate co-hosted with CCU on March 23-25 both in the Phoenix area.
