National Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Fresh off their sweep of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles in the 2024-25 season, the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team will hit the road for the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, entering the national tournament as the second seed in the South Central Region as they'll trek to the Lone Star State for the third straight season.

As announced during Sunday night's selection show, the Orediggers (27-4, 18-2 RMAC) will be heading to a different locale from their previous two national tournament appearances, loading up for a trip to Dallas as Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament champions Dallas Baptist will play the hosts for this year's edition of the South Central Region bracket. Unofficial regional rankings throughout the season saw the Orediggers and Patriots trade places several times throughout the season as the top two teams in the region.

Mines, one of two RMAC squads in the national tournament this season, will play the team that hosted the regional the past two seasons and earned the #7 seed this season, Texas A&M in opening round action on Saturday March 15. Top seeded DBU opens with eighth-seeded RMAC Tournament runners-up Regis who found themselves on the outside looking in in last week's final regional rankings. The rest of the bracket features six LSC teams, with Lubbock Christian earning the third seed and opening their tournament against sixth-seeded St. Mary's (TX) while the final first round matchup pits fourth-seeded Midwestern State against the fifth seed St. Edwards.

The Orediggers are led into the postseason by RMAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, First Team All-RMAC selection and RMAC Player of the Year Majok Deng. Mines is also led by First Team honoree Riley Schroeder and Second Teamer Markus Pastorcic-Straun, along with Honorable Mention All-Conference selections Grant Pressly and Alex Romack. Head coach Pryor Orser, the winningest coach in league history, was named Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his 24-year career in Golden and leads the Silver and Blue back to the national tournament for the 14th time (2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024). During his tenure, Mines has won a pair of regional championships, doing so in 2017 (South Central) and 2021 (West).
