GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Swimming teams had eight individuals named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

Michael Kietzman, Ronan Lauinger, Joseph Lev-Tov, and Jaron O'Grady represented the Oredigger men. Sophia Buhr, Julie Gill, Jordan Tierney, and Kylie VanderMeer made up the quartet of Mines' women. It marks the first-ever CSC Academic All-District nod for Kietzman, Lauinger, Lev-Tov, Buhr, Gill, and VanderMeer. O'Grady earned a third straight academic all-district recognition and Tierney's was her second. All four men, along with Tierney and VanderMeer were selected for the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Criteria for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams require honorees to be sophomores or above with a 3.5, or greater, grade-point average (GPA) and meet a minimum percentage of participation in meets throughout the season.

Kietzman claimed the distinction with his 3.56 GPA in mechanical engineering. Lauinger checked in with a 3.54, also in mechanical engineering. Lev-Tov and O'Grady, both focused on electrical engineering, produced GPAs of 4.00 and 3.81, respectively, with O'Grady pursuing his master's degree. Buhr's accolade came on the merits of a 3.70 GPA in mechanical engineering. Gill's 3.54 came in civil engineering. Tierney churned out a 3.76 in computational and applied mathematics. VanderMeer put together a 3.98 in environmental engineering.

Mines swimming closed its season last month at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships where the men tied for 25th and the women had three swimmers in action. Additional postseason awards and the incoming signing class will be released later this year at www.minesathletics.com and on social media.
