A national semifinalist and double RMAC champion, the 2014 women's soccer team will join the Class of 2025 in the
Harry D. Campbell Oredigger Hall of Fame.
Mines Athletics' first team to make the NCAA semifinals in a bracketed national tournament, the 2014 edition of the Orediggers were the program's first to win three trophies, capturing the RMAC regular-season championship, the RMAC Tournament championship, and the NCAA South Central regional crown. Going 16-2-6 overall and 11-1-2 in the RMAC, the team had a heart-stopping postseason with three penalty-kick advancements, including in the RMAC Tournament final over MSU Denver, in the regional final against Texas A&M-Commerce, and in the national quarterfinals versus Stanislaus State. Their final national ranking of #4 is tied for the highest in program history.
One of the most dominant defensive teams in NCAA Division II history, the 2014 Orediggers allowed only seven goals in their 24 matches for a program-record goals-against average of 0.29 led by RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and all-American Nicho Cusack. All-American goalkeeper Jayln Yates' 17 shutouts remain the program record, including a record six in a row late in the season through the RMAC Tournament. Midfielder Rachael Turner was also an all-American while RMAC Freshman of the Year Laya Rybicki led the team in scoring with five goals and three assists. Cusack, Turner, and Kendra Bulawa captained the squad.
The Harry D. Campbell Oredigger Hall of Fame Class of 2025 -
which also includes 2014 team member Emily Garnier as an individual inductee - will be honored in a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4 as part of Homecoming Weekend.
Tickets are now on sale for the event.
