Tabora Scores, Orediggers Drop Road Finale To #23 Mountain Lions

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 result to UCCS Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Field in their final road match of 2026. Zeus Tabora scored for the Orediggers (0-14-3, 0-8-1), who fell behind early as three first half goals in a span of 13 minutes by the Mountain Lions (10-2-5, 5-2-2) proved too much to overcome.

Former Oredigger Lucas_Taitt made it 2-0 in favor of UCCS in the span of 59 seconds in the 22nd and 23rd minutes. The first goal came when off a long ball up the near side which Taitt gathered before shooting top shelf on the back post for the opening goal of the match. The second came moments later as part of a chaotic sequence in front of goal. A cross in for Taitt saw him with a sliding shot to back post while taking out keeper Zach MacDonald in the process to make it 2-0. The contact on the play subsequently forced MacDonald from the match, as Kiernan DiBella came on in relief. After play resumed, UCCS made it 3-0 in the 35th minute as for the third time in the half, Taitt scored with a header on a cross from Ieuan Bailey heading to the intermission.

Coming out in the second half, Mines broke up the shutout in the 58th minute. Zeus Tabora headed a ball home past Hugo Sjoberg off a free kick by Pol Garcia Oliveras to make it 3-1 and lay the foundation for a comeback attempt. Unfortunately, that comeback never materialized as chances were hard to come back over the final half hour of play. One of the limited looks resulted in a fourth goal for the Mountain Loins as Jack Cook closed out the action in the 84th minute as the horn sounded soon after on a 4-1 result.
