Final Results
STOCKTON, Calif. - Colorado School of Mines wrapped up its best team finish of the season, rising to a tie for fourth in the final round of the RJGA Visit Stockton Regional Preview.
Tied for sixth overnight, Mines produced a one-under team score of 287 to land at +5 for the tournament, led by under-par rounds by
Liam Allan and
Lukas Taggart. #16 CSU Pueblo won at -7, the only team under par, with #19 Western Washington (E) and Colorado Christian (+3) ahead of the Orediggers, who tied with #23 Cal State East Bay and Westminster.
Allan shot a two-under 70 to finish tied for seventh overall (-3), rising at one point to a tie for the lead in the afternoon after a birdie-eagle run on the 15th and 16th holes. Taggart was Mines' second scorer on Tuesday with his 71, also finding an eagle-birdie sequence on the 11th and 12th holes as he ended up tied for 29th (+3). Taggart was one of the biggest leaderboard movers of the day, rising 27 spots.
Colt Tenpenny repeated his 73 from Monday to be tied for 23rd (+2), and
Lucas Schulte also shot 73 in his final round to move up 10 spots to T32 (+4).
Carter Lolli was the non-counting score with a 76, ending T58 (+7).
As they did on Monday, Mines attacked off the tee tying for the low scoring average in the field on par 3s (3.05), led by Tenpenny who was -3, and second-lowest on par 5s (4.68), led by Allan's -5 pace. Mines was getting a first look at The Reserve at Spanos Park, which will host the NCAA West/South Central Regional in May.
Western Washington's Rex Wilson won medalist honors at -5 with a final-round 67, with a five-way tie for second at -4 a shot ahead of Allan.
The Orediggers head to Nevada next for the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Boulder City.
