EVANSVILLE, Ind. The Colorado School of Mines men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened the 2026 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships with a pair of all-American finishes in the 800-freestyle relay.
The women's quartet of
Ava LaBrose,
Jennifer Pierson,
Michelle Murphy, and
Anna Bream posted the fastest 800-freestyle relay time in program history at 7:30.78. That mark was good enough for #15 in the nation and second-team all-America honors. It was also the first women's 800-freestyle relay to record an all-America finish in program history.
Cameron MacMillan,
Vladislav Kazakin,
Brenden Cook, and
Charlie Krone helped Mines' men finish #13 in the nation in the 800-freestyle relay after stopping the clock at 6:34.49. They were the first men's quartet to score in the men's 800-freestyle relay since 2002. Earlier in the day,
Bruno Albertoni participated in the NCAA Division II diving qualifier but just missed the championship meet despite top-35 finishes.
After one session of action, the Oredigger women sit #15 in the team standings with four points. Mines' men are #13 in the team standings with eight points. Nova Southeastern's women and Tampa's men are #1 in their respective rankings with four days and 12 sessions of competition remaining at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Ind.
The second day of racing for Mines includes the 200-IM, 50-free, 1000-free, and 200-medley relay on Wednesday. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT. Live coverage is available through links at
