EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Mary Flikkema, Cameryn Schmidt, Kaya Flaherty, and Jordan Tierney joined together Wednesday evening at the Deaconess Aquatic Center to break the Colorado School of Mines women's swimming & diving record in the 200-medley relay while finishing 11th in the nation at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships.

The quartet's finish in a time of 1:42.10 also garnered CSCAA Second-Team All-America status and added 12 points to the women's team total. That put the Oredigger women 16th after two days and four sessions of competition. The previous program record was 1:42.26 set by the very same foursome earlier this season at the CMU/TYR Invitational in Grand Junction, Colo. Additionally, the race marked the first-ever appearance at the national meet for Flikkema and the second for Flaherty who had raced on the NCAA's big stage for the first time earlier in the day. The men's standings after two days and four sessions had Mines 19th with eight points.

During Wednesday's morning session, Anna Bream, Schmidt, Flaherty, Julie Gill, and Vladislav Kazakin all raced for the Orediggers. Bream posted a national finish of 26th in the 200-IM after stopping the clock at 2:04.98. Schmidt and Flaherty both appeared in the 50-free, finishing 34th and 38th, respectively. Schmidt's time in prelims was 23.72. Flaherty went 23.95 in her NCAA Championship debut. Gill and Kazakin represented Mines in the women's and men's 1000-free. Gill went first and placed 30th in her first-ever national race after churning out a 10:31.32. Kazakin's time was 9:35.10 which put him 32nd in the nation.
