GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines baseball team suffered a 14-4 setback Sunday in its series finale against MSU Denver at Jim Darden Field.

Brody Duvall and Evan Bilter were the most productive hitters for Mines (9-17, 6-6 RMAC). They had three hits each including a trio of doubles for Bilter who also scored twice with one RBI. Jackson Babcock notched a double and an RBI as well. Tyler Easter and Justin Kubojiri both scored runs too. Easter and Tyler Hummel accounted for the other two RBI. Alex Piscotty (0-4) was the Orediggers' starting pitcher and the pitcher of decision after six runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of action. Jackson Kay, Grady Booth, Luke Parker, Nicholas Spidel, Kenji Bray, and Dillon Alcouffe also appeared on the mound. Drew Peters (1-0) came out of the bullpen for MSU Denver (20-6, 8-0 RMAC) and earned the win.

As a team, Mines nearly matched the Roadrunners' 12 hits with 10 of its own. The Orediggers produced four doubles compared to three from MSU Denver. However, the visitors added a home run to their box score. The home pitching staff walked nine batters and struck out nine. The Roadrunners collected eight strikeouts and handed out seven walks. There was only one fielding error in the game, and it went against Mines.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Two runs in the first inning and five more in the second inning provided MSU Denver a 7-0 lead. The Roadrunners made it 8-0 before Mines' offense came alive in the third frame. Easter scored Bilter with a single before coming in to score on a Hummel base hit. Doubles from Bilter and Babock generated two more runs in the fourth inning and cut the Oredigger deficit to 8-4. However, the visitors used a sixth-inning home run as to spark a four-run frame. Two additional MSU Denver runs in the ninth inning served as insurance.
