Mines Football Student-Athletes Earn NFF Honors

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines football student-athletes are well-represented on a pair of postseason academic awards announced this week.

Mines had 43 players named to the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter's Academic All-Colorado teams, while five Orediggers were named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.

The NFFCC Academic All-Colorado team, comprised from all 10 of the Centennial State's college football programs, honored those who maintained GPAs of 3.3 or above for first-team status, or 3.0 to 3.29 for honorable mention. Punter Lucas LeSieur led the way as a finalist for the NFFCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.

Mines' First-Team Academic All-Colorado selections are: David Baba, Bryce Bailey, Max Barnes, Evan Bish, William Brown, James Cillessen, Ty Deppe, Joel Diaz, Brayden Duerksen, Brock Ewing, Joseph Gonzales, Austin Gonzalez, Parker Johnson, Tyson Kestner, Preston Kyle, Lucas LeSieur, Tyson Mauck, Connor McGrath, Konnor Mickelsen, Jack Mills, Davis Perkins, Will Ramsey, Mo Russolillo, Blake Smotherman, Josh Snyder, Nick Stone, Jake Sype, Jake Willis, Russ Woodward, and Jackson Zimmermann. Honorable mention selections include Dominic Caggiano, Joseph Capra, Garrett Carleton, Sean Gilbert, Luke Johnson, Devyn Lauer-Duarte, Jackson Lewis, Logan Lindeman, Owen Mellish, Patrick Mologne, Christian Peluse, Pierce Richards, and Jacob Sanders.

The NFF's Hampshire Honor Society named Orediggers Joel Diaz, Brock Ewing, Konnor Mickelsen, Jake Sype, and Jackson Zimmermann as part of a record 2,633 players from 369 schools across all divisions on this year's list. The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of student-athletes who maintained at least a 3.2 GPA, are seniors in their final year of eligibility and set to graduate, or are graduate students who have already earned a bachelor's degree, and were starters or significant contributors to their teams.
