GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines golf has announced two new additions to its squad for the 2026-27 season, looking near and far to add a pair of freshmen.

The Orediggers will welcome Iceland native Óli Bjarkason and Lakewood's Hunter Ellsworth this fall, adding to a talented young roster for head coach Tyler Kimble that includes 10 returners. 

Bjarkason, hailing from Kópavogur, Iceland, comes to Golden after finishing fourth on the Icelandic junior tour last year and winning the 2024 and 2025 Icelandic Junior Team club championships. A GKG Junior Tour runner-up, Bjarkason is interested in majoring in mechanical engineering.

Ellsworth, a Green Mountain High School product, saw rapid improvement in his game to qualify for the Colorado state 3A tournament last fall after winning the Jeffco individual title. A three-sport athlete at Green Mountain, Ellsworth was all-Jeffco and the 3A MVP as a senior. He is interested in majoring in mechanical engineering.

Mines has yet to set their final fall schedule but will begin 2026-27 play in September.
