INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – With the 2026 softball season concluded and national statistics finalized, for the second time in the last three seasons the Colorado School of Mines boasts an NCAA Statistical Champion as senior outfielder Kendall Aragon led Division II in triples this spring.

The Thornton native registered 12 triples this spring to break both the Mines single-season and career records for triples, and became the first Oredigger in program history to register double-digit triples in a campaign. She was followed on the national leaderboard by Assumption's Maddy Bland with 11, while Makenzie Burroughs (Barton), Jill Cockrell (Alabama Huntsville), Autumn Fisher (USC Aiken), Taryn Hirano (Hawai'i Pacific) and Sara VanWickler were all tied for third with nine. Additionally, Aragon was tied for the national lead across all levels of the NCAA in triples this spring with Noelle Simmons of Division III Rhode Island College. Hannah Ferguson of Saint Mary's led Division I this spring with 10 triples. Looking across the broader landscape of college softball this spring, Aragon was tied for the most triples in the country at any level as Kinzie Williams (Science & Arts (Okla.), NAIA), Jaelynne Whipple (Eastern Florida State, NJCAA DI) and Sophia Lasater (Brookdale, NJCAA DIII) also registered 12 triples in 2026.

Aragon's final season in a Mines uniform this spring saw her named to the All-RMAC First Team and Gold Glove Defensive Team while also earning Second Team All-Region honors from the NFCA and D2CCA. In 55 games, she batted .420/.455/.692 with 13 doubles, 12 triples, three home runs, 49 RBI and 42 runs scored along with 11 stolen bases. Aragon led the Orediggers in RBI, doubles and triples, was second in batting average and runs scored and fourth in walks with 15. She recorded a triple in eight games and recorded multiple triples in four games. Aragon broke the season record for triples when she hit six in the Adams State series April 18-19, posting a pair of three-baggers in each of the final three games of the series. She also hit two triples against Black Hills State on April 4 and closed the season with eight triples in the final 13 games.

Collectively this spring, the Orediggers broke the program team record for most triples in a season with 40 and finished tied for the top spot in Division II with Claflin. Southeastern led Division I with 33 triples while Illinois College led Division III with 27. Mines also broke the program single-game triples record at Adams State on April 18 when Aragon, Katie Bauer, Emiaj Self and Kate Whipple combined for five triples in a 20-2 blowout victory.
