2025-26 CSC Academic All-America At-Large Teams
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines golfer
Lukas Taggart and wrestler
Cody Thompson have been honored as Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Communicators organization after outstanding 2025-26 seasons.
Thompson, named to the first team, earns the 12th honor for Mines Wrestling all-time, while Taggart, a third-teamer, is the fourth recipient for the golf program. The duo, both seniors, were selected as part of CSC's At-Large team, which combines a number of sports to recognize outstanding athletic and academic achievement. Both Thompson and Taggart were also named Academic All-Americans in 2023-24.
Taggart earns the honor after being named the RMAC Academic Golfer of the Year this spring. Selected for the NCAA West/South Central Championship for the fourth consecutive year, Taggart finished fourth at the RMAC Championships and had a pair of top-five finishes to earn Second-Team All-RMAC status. Taggart graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Thompson, who extends Mines Wrestling's streak of Academic All-Americans to eight consecutive seasons, was the NCAA Division II national champion at 149 pounds after a superlative 19-1 season. The NWCA Regional Wrestler of the Year, Thompson became Mines' first national champion since 1998 as he ran off seven straight postseason victories to first capture the regional crown before adding the NCAA title. Thompson has both his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Mines.
The pair were named to the At-Large Team, which combines candidates from a number of sports including fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. All nominees must have a 3.5 or above GPA while holding sophomore or higher academic standing.
