BACK HOME
The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team returns to Stermole Stadium this weekend as they kick off a two-week home stint with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches against Black Hills State and Regis on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Fans planning to attend Friday night's match against Black Hills State will need plan for an alternate route to arrive to Stermole Stadium. With Golden High School homecoming being held this weekend, Washington Avenue will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. Fans are advised to enter campus from Highway 6 and 19th Street before navigating onto Elm Street and finally Maple Street leading to Lot K on the north side of the Clear Creek Athletic Complex.
 
FAN INFORMATION
Tickets can be purchased online in advance at minesathletics.com/tickets or at the gate on the day of the match. Mines students, faculty and staff will be admitted for free with their BlasterCard. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot K immediately to the north of Stermole Stadium. Fans as are not allowed to park in the neighborhood surrounding the Clear Creek Athletic Complex, as the City of Golden's street parking requires a permit seven days a week.
 
WEEKEND FORECAST
Friday's forecast calls for a high of 73 with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and southeast winds at seven miles per hour. Sunday will be partly cloudy with a high of 81 and southeast winds at nine miles per hour.
 
AT THE HELM
2026 marks the 17th season leading Mines for Kevin Fickes, the program's winningest head coach. With a career mark of 263-45-46 (.808), he ranks eighth in all of the NCAA and fourth in Division II among head coaches with at least five years of experience when it comes to winning percentage. One of two RMAC coaches with 200 career victories, under his direction Mines has overseen 41 All-America selections, 21 Academic All-America selections, 93 all-conference honorees and 34 RMAC major award winners. Fickes has also guided Mines to seven RMAC regular season titles and 10 RMAC Tournament crowns and made 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
WEEK 4 RECAP
Mines posted a 3-1 result over Fort Lewis in their lone action of the weekend to kick off league play. Bella Campos, Gaby Guerrero and Annelise Rojo all scored, while Taylor Johnson-Balding added her first career assist. In goal, Brekyn Davenport-Murrish recorded a season-high four saves.
 
THE CAPTAINS
A seasoned group of veterans will be wearing the "C" this fall for the Orediggers. Bella Campos and Natalie Rouse enter their second seasons as captains, while Gaby Guerrero rounds out the on-field leadership group. Campos is coming off her second consecutive RMAC Player of the Year award after scoring 20 goals with four assists for 44 points. Rouse, who missed most of 2024 with injury, returned in 2025 to earn her second RMAC Defensive Player of the Year award after scoring five times from her center back position and anchoring a defense that posted nine shutouts. Guerrero was named Honorable Mention All-RMAC last fall as a standout midfielder who scored twice with an assist.
 
IN THE POLLS
Mines topped August's RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll followed closely by Colorado Mesa and UCCS. Fort Lewis and Regis rounded out the top five followed by Westminster, MSU Denver, Colorado Christian, CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado in the top 10. Adams State, Black Hills State and New Mexico Highlands rounded out the 13-team rankings.
 
FIVE YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY PASSES
In early August, NCAA Division II passed a sweeping change to eligibility rules that now gives all student-athletes five seasons of eligibility in a five-year span, and eliminates redshirting. It will apply to this year's incoming freshmen, and returning players can either convert to the new rule or be grandfathered into continuing with the old four-year model, whichever is more beneficial. The new rules supersede the previous freshman rule that allowed them to play in up to four games while still redshirting. 
 
NCAA CHANGES POSTSEASON PROCESS
Another significant change coming to NCAA Division II is how they select the postseason championship field. Playoff selections will now be handled solely by the NCAA Power Index (NPI) instead of regional committees, removing the human element from the process; NPI takes into account winning percentage and strength of schedule, quality wins, and home/away weights, rewarding challenging schedules and road wins more so than in years past.
 
NCAA ACTIVE CAREER SCORING LEADER
Heading into week five of the season, Bella Campos continues to lead all levels of NCAA soccer in both goals scored and points. With action underway across all three divisions, Campos remains the only player in the entire country with more than 50 career goals, as she sits with 58 after a hot start to 2026. Catawba's Bree Ehmer is set to soon join Campos on the north side of 50 goals as she currently sits at 49. Eowyn Lapp of Division III Gordon is third with 46 goals, while Alabama's Larkin Thompson is the top Division I player with 44 goals. Shifting to look at points, Campos is also the only active player with more than 120 points as she sits with 136. Jordan Lange of DIII North Central is second with 117, while the next closest DII player is Ehmer who also has 117. The first DI player on the list is once again Thompson, who has 104 points. A total of nine players nationally have 100 or more career points.
 
ONE OF THE BEST
Bella Campos has long since cemented herself as one of the greatest offensive players in Mines program history, and on the Orediggers west coast road trip continued her climb up the all-time ranks. After scoring two more times and adding three assists, Campos now has 58 career goals, 20 career assists and 136 career points. She's taken over sole possession of second in both goals and points from Anna Evans (2010-13) and moved past Reese McDermott (2021-24) and Kaitlyn Manalili (2022-25) into fifth in assists. In doing so, Campos is the fifth player in program history with 20 or more assists in a career and is now two back of Acacia Ortiz (2015-18) for fourth and three behind Evans for third. Additionally, Campos's 271 shots are good for fourth on the all-time list. Perhaps the most impressive number is the fact that Campos has scored on 58 of the 129 shots on goal she's taken in her career. That latter number still ranks fifth all-time and is 11 back of Megan Woodworth (2009-12)'s total of 135. For those keeping track at home, that is a .476 scoring rate in her career when Campos puts a ball on frame.
 
CHECKING THE STANDINGS
Four teams went unbeaten to start RMAC play last weekend, as Black Hills State, Regis and Colorado Mesa all went 2-0 while Mines won in their only action of the week. Fort Lewis and UCCS went 1-1 while Westminster went 0-0-2. CSU Pueblo also drew in their only action of the week and are followed by Western Colorado, Colorado Christian and MSU Denver who all went 0-1-1. Adams State and New Mexico Highlands each went 0-2.
 
SENIOR WEEKEND
Sunday afternoon, the Orediggers will recognize the members of this year's team who will be calling it a career following the 2026. Natalie Rouse, Gaby Guerrero, Ariana Ahumada, Finley Ewald and Keria Garcia will be honored with Senior Day festivities following the match against Regis.
 
OLIMPICO!
Gaby Guerrero achieved a rare feat Sunday in Durango, scoring a goal olimpico style on a corner kick in the 22nd minute that ultimately ended up being the game-winner. The last time an Oredigger scored an olimpico goal was Lauren Clingman in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship against Colorado Mesa.
 
CHECKING THE STATS
After Sunday, nine different Orediggers have scored a goal this season, led by Bella Campos with eight. Campos also leads Mines with five assists for 21 points to lead the RMAC. Allyson Townsend is second in scoring with two goals, while freshman Bella Torres has scored twice. Gaby Guerrero, Natalie Mezarina, Caelan DeBolt, Finley Ewald, Annelise Rojo and Natalie Rouse meanwhile have all scored once. Looking at assists, Guerrero is second to Campos with three while Lindsay Jeans has two. Torres, Mezarina, Sam Forde and Taylor Johnson-Balding all have one apiece.
 
Brekyn Davenport-Murrish turned in a season-high four saves Sunday against Fort Lewis as she's started all seven matches and played all 630 minutes in goal. The freshman has made 12 saves against nine goals allowed while facing 66 shots to post a 1.29 GAA and a .571 save percentage. She has a 5-1-1 record with one shutout.
 
On the season, Mines has outscored teams 19-9 and averages 2.71 goals on 21.0 shots per match while limiting the opposition to 1.29 goals on 9.3 shots. They have 14 assists on their 19 goals and are 1-3 on penalties this fall. Mines has taken 47 corner kicks and made 12 saves in goal. They have been called for 40 fouls and issued two yellow cards.
 
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
Black Hills State, in the midst of their best season in program history, is off to a 2-0-0 start in league play following a pair of 4-0 and 3-1 home wins over New Mexico Highlands and Adams State. Friday night in Golden will be the first true road match of the season for BHSU, who has played three neutral site matches. Sitting at 5-0-2 on the year, their combined record of opponents this season is 13-20-15.
 
Freshman Ivy Agee is making an early case for RMAC Freshman of the Year honors as she's the RMAC leader in scoring with nine goals and is second in points with 19 thanks to an assist as well. Ally Boysen is second on the team with five goals while Zoe Evans is the third and final Yellow Jacket with multiple goals this fall with two. Samantha Nunez, Aubri Roth and Kalissa Weich round out the goal scorers with one apiece. Kylea Becker meanwhile leads the team and the RMAC with seven assists. Ashley Measles and Bailey Smith have two each while Boysen, Nunez, Roth, Weich, Jazlyn Olson and Mirabel Shellabarger all have one assist.
 
Rian Barthel has played all 630 minutes in goal this fall, and against 82 shots has made 27 saves and allowed just five goals to record three shutouts and post a 0.71 GAA and an .844 save percentage.
 
As a team, BHSU is +14 in goal differential at 19-5 and averages 16.3 shots per match while allowing 11.7 shots to the opposition. They have 18 assists on their 19 goals and have taken 27 corner kicks. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets have made 27 saves in goal, while being called for 55 fouls and issued three yellow cards.
 
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Regis likewise had an impressive start to RMAC play, posting a 2-0 win over Adams State Friday before routing New Mexico Highlands 8-1 Sunday. Sunday will also be the first match of the season away from home for the Rangers, as they have played all eight of their first matches at home. With a record of 6-2-0, Regis' first eight opponents this season are a combined 20-32-6.
 
Eight different players have scored for Regis this fall led by Fernanda Rodriguez with eight goals along with two assists for 18 points. Paula Igual have scored three times and is the team leader in assists with three. Addysen Gasser and Renata Larracilla have scored twice each, while Paige Davis, Aaliah Barwick, Mya Pasion and Blake Plummer have all scored once. Ranger opponents this season are also on the board, having scored three own goals including one by NMHU Sunday. Looking to assists, Brooke Castillo is tied for second with Rodriguez while Gasser, Davis, Emma Attwod, Brielle Bickham, Elsa Nolen, Quinn Quinabo and Malia Salema all have one.
 
In goal, Maggie Payne has led the way starting all eight matches for 532:37 against 71 shots, has made 23 saves while allowing five goals her way to a 0.84 GAA and an .821 save percentage with one solo shutout. Helen Stegner has been the primary backup this season, having made four appearances for 142:23 and not allowing a goal while recording four saves against 14 shots. She and Payne have combined for another three shutouts. Sierra Rosetta meanwhile has played 45 minutes, all coming on Sunday against NMHU and has two saves against one goal allowed.
 
On the year, the Rangers have outscored teams 22-6 and average 2.75 goals on 17.9 shots per match while holding teams to 11.3 shots. They have 14 assists on their 22 goals and are 1-1 on PKs. They have combined for 29 saves in goal, while taking 34 corner kicks. RU has been called for 76 fouls and issued three cautions.

SERIES HISTORY
Mines is 9-0-1 all-time against Black Hills State and a perfect 5-0-0 when playing in Golden. After playing to a 1-1 draw in Spearfish in 2024, Mines responded with a 1-0 win on the road last fall. The last time the teams met in Golden, the Orediggers posted a 8-0 romp of the Yellow Jackets in 2023.
 
The Orediggers saw a five-match winning streak against Regis snapped with a 2-1 loss last fall in Denver. All-time in the series, Mines leads the Rangers 23-10-2 with a mark of 11-4-1 when playing at home. The teams likewise last met in Golden in 2023 on two occasions, the first a 3-1 win in the regular season followed by a 4-0 win in wintry conditions on the RMAC Tournament semifinals.
