Prior to the NCAA having divisions, there were two national meets: "University Division" (equal to the current Division I) and "College Division" (roughly equal to the current Division II and III combined).Â
* - NCAA National Champion
# - NCAA National Championship Outstanding Wrestler Award
^ - due to the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Championships during the COVID-19 pandemic, all-Americans were designated by the NWCA based on seeding
Â
National Qualifiers
Prior to 1975 an institution was allowed to send any wrestler to the NCAA Championships that met their institutions requirements (record, returning placer, etc.). The wrestlers on this list qualified for the national tournament through placing in
a qualifying tournament.Â
