Dominic Taccolini joined the Oredigger coaching staff in the fall of 2020 as a pitching specialist for the 2020-21 school year.

Taccolini arrived at Mines to attend graduate school after a professional playing career in the San Diego Padres' minor league system. In two seasons in the Arizona League, the right-handed reliever went 1-2 in 16 appearances including one start while finishing three games. He posted a 7.36 ERA in those two seasons and struck out 28 batters in 22.0 innings of work. Taccolini joined the Padres as a 10th-round draft pick in 2017. He was also drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 16th round in 2016, but elected to return to school.

The hurler turned coach and graduate student played collegiately at Arkansas under Dave Van Horn. He was also a petroleum geology major. In four college seasons, Taccolini posted a career record of 17-10 with four saves in 69 appearances and four starts. His career ERA was 4.79 with 197 strikeouts in 231.0 innings while facing over 1,000 batters. Also of note was Taccolini's 10-inning, complete-game shutout against Kentucky as junior which included 10 strikeouts.
