CSM wrestling competes at Univ. of Wyoming Cowboy Open

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Colorado School of Mines wrestling team competed at the University of Wyoming Cowboy Open on Saturday, November 12th, at War Memorial Fieldhouse.

Mines sent 20 attached wrestlers, including Ryan Adams (125 lb. Amateur; 1-2), Cory Carter (125 lb. Amateur; 0-2), Robby Schultheis (125 lb. Amateur; 1-2, tech fall), Cory Wittwer (149 lb., Amateur, 3-2 with one fall), Cooper Newby (149 lb., Elite, 0-2), Mikie Burgess (149 lb., Elite, 0-2), McLain Cowan (149 lb., Elite, 0-2), Gabe Martinez (157 lb., Elite, 0-2), Erik Ovens (165 lb., Amateur, 3-2 with two falls), Steven Kelly (165 lb., Amateur, 3-2 with one fall), Colton Sauer (165 lb., Amateur, 1-2), Jordan Larsen (165 lb., Elite, 0-2), Chance Davis (174 lb., Amateur, 1-2 with one fall), Josh Brown (174 lb., Elite, 0-2), Brandon Sheldon (174 lb., Elite, 1-2 with one fall), Ryan Swanson (184 lb., Elite, 1-2 with one fall), Alec Bird (197 lb., Amateur, 1-2 with one fall), Robert Tucker (HWT, Elite, 1-2) and Alexander MacKenzie (HWT, Amateur, 2-2 with one fall).

Six Orediggers competed unattached, David Turnbull finished fourth in the 149 Amateur bracket going 5-2 with a fall and a major decision. David Rael (149 lb., Amateur, 2-2 with one fall), Justin Frazer (157 lb., Amateur, 4-2), Michael Lunsford (157 lb., Amateur, 2-2) and Robert Earl (133 lb., Amateur, 0-2).

CSM will compete at the Northern Colorado Open on Saturday, November 19th, at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley, Colo.
