The match is the second meeting between Mines and Simon Fraser. The two met at the Grand Canyon Duals in 2012-13, with Mines rolling 34-8. The Clan, located in Burnaby, British Columbia, joined NCAA Division II in 2011-12.
MINES BEATS NORTHWEST TECH
Before the break, Mines cruised to a 34-11 win over Northwest Tech behind falls from Matthew Lavengood, Ben Krantz, Karl Breidenbach, and Paul Wilson. Nick DeBruyn also recorded a major decision as Mines ended with five straight victories.

Mines' Paul Wilson is ranked #6 in the nation at 197 pounds in the newest D2wrestle.com poll. Mines earned a #11 regional team ranking (a spot ahead of Simon Fraser), and in the individual regional rankings, Wilson is #2 at 197 pounds, while Jacob Gerken is #4 at 149 and John Crowley is #4 at 165. For Simon Fraser, Cruz Velasquez (6th, 133), Morgan Smith (4th, 184), and Sean Molle (4th, 285) appeared in the regional poll.
LEADING THE WAY
Freshman Rocky Michaelson leads Mines with an 11-3 record this year, while redshirt freshman Keenan Willits is 10-4 and Robert Gambrell is 8-5. Willits leads the Orediggers with five falls, with Michaelson and Ian Cheatum each pinning four. Paul Wilson owns the year's fastest fall (0:31) and has produced a team-best 10 points in duals.
KEEPING IT GOLDEN
Mines isn't the only team in competition Wednesday night as Golden High School and Chatfield High School will wrestle concurrently at Volk Gymnasium. Both meets start at 7 p.m.
COMING UP
Mines will be away from Golden for their next six dates, including duals at Chadron, Western, and Colorado Mesa along with RMAC Championships in Colorado Springs on Jan. 31. Mines returns home Feb. 5 to host New Mexico Highlands.
