Trio of Second Half Goals Gives Mines 3-0 Victory at CSU-Pueblo

How It Happened
A trio of second half goals propelled Colorado School of Mines to a huge road victory at CSU-Pueblo on Sunday, September 18 at Gonzales Stadium.

Mines (3-2-1, 2-0) got second period goals from both Trevor Amann, John Haist and David Boldt, and freshman goalkeeper Leo Chely kept CSU-P off the board in the road shutout.

Mines threatened the Thunderwolves the entire game, but was continually stymied time-and-time again – until the 59'. It was then that David Boldt worked down on the right touch line and spotted Trevor Amann making a run at the top of the box. Boldt worked a diagonal pass back up to meet Amann who thundered a goal into the back of the net.

Nine minutes later Ryan Blarr found John Haist for the Orediggers' second goal. Blarr took free kick from 30 yards out that found Haist at the back post.

Finally, Mines put the game on ice when David Boldt got a goal of his own in the 86' minute he poached a rebound right in front of the net.

While the first half didn't produce any goals, Mines thoroughly dominated the run of play as they had a 9-2 edge on shots and a 4-0 advantage on shots on goal. In fact, freshman Trevor Amann was denied twice in the 13' and 18'; both were struck well, but CSU-P keeper Erich Frey denied him. Nikolaus Grotz (30') and David Boldt (34') had the other shots on target.
