THE WEEKEND
Mines will visit #18 Fort Hays State on Thursday night for a dual, then head to Kearney, Neb. for Saturday's Midwest Duals, where the Orediggers will have four matches against Central Missouri, Drury, #23 Newman, and Mary.
OREDIGGERS UPSET #23 SIMON FRASER
Mines scored a win over nationally-ranked Simon Fraser last Thursday, winning four bouts and receiving two forfeits in the 28-20 victory.
Robert Gambrell upset #12 Reid Watkins, 4-2, at 174 pounds to lead the way, while
Matt Lavengood won 12-2 over Oscar Bulaqui at 125,
Ethan Ruby worked a 9-3 decision against Tanner Spray at 157, and
Keenan Willits pinned Graham Fader in 59 seconds at 165.

Mines is receiving votes in the most recent D2Wrestle.com national poll.
Jacob Gerken appears at #9 at 149 pounds in the national rankings, while regionally, Mines is 12th with individuals ranked at 141 (
Lukas Erickson, #7), 149 (Gerken, #2), 157 (
Ethan Ruby, #8), and 165 (
Keenan Willits, #7). Among this weekend's opponents, Fort Hays State is #18 in the nation and Newman is #23.

Last year, Mines beat Fort Hays State at home, 26-19. Among the projected line-ups for this weekend, there will be no rematches from last year. At the 2016 Midwest Duals, Mines went a perfect 3-0 with wins over Mary, Minot, and Northern State. Mines' win over Mary was a 21-18 affair that came down to
Paul Wilson's win at 197 to secure the match.
