Kehe Leads #16 Mines to Ninth Straight Win

GOLDEN, Colo. – Julian Kehe scored the first goal of his career Friday night and it proved to be the game-winner as the #16-ranked Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer team took down Dixie State 1-0 at Stermole Stadium in its ninth straight win.

The goal proved extra special for Kehe with his father in attendance for the first time in the redshirt junior's career, traveling all the way from New Delhi, India. Kehe finished the match converting at 100 percent with exactly one shot going on goal for the tally. Lucas King notched the assist on the score, and goalkeeper Drew Johnson made four saves in his sixth shutout of the season.

As a team, Mines (10-1-0, 7-0-0 RMAC) has posted four straight shutouts amid its nine-match winning streak. The Orediggers out-shot Dixie State (3-7-1, 1-5-1 RMAC) as the Trailblazers drop their fourth match in the last five tries.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mines continued its tradition of scoring early as Kehe put the Orediggers on the board in the 10th minute. The ball was knocked out of bounds on the north sideline and King stepped up for the throw-in. A long heave by King put the ball halfway across the penalty area, and a well-timed, well-placed head by Kehe flicked the ball inside the far post.

The Orediggers maintained their pressure throughout the rest of the opening half, taking 12 shots compared to Dixie State's one attempt. However, the Trailblazers upped their output in the second half with seven shots, placing four on goal. Johnson proved up to the task as Mines cruised to the shutout victory.
